The Cure (http://www.thecure.com/default.asp) have a new single which is the first of what they say will be four singles coming out before an album release that is slated to be released in Fall of 2008. And in true quirky goth goofball style each single will be released on the 13th of each month.

They have aged and the video shows it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og_VoeTFzyY&eurl=http://stereogum.com/archives/video/new-cure-video-the-only-one_009848.html), but with the brutal deterioration of gravity and oxidation is better music, really it sounds fucking great.

wow-i've never been to their website before. this was the band i grew up completely obsessed by-kind of how much i love the beasties but i was about 14/15 etc so could be bothered to have all the posters and books and t-shirts and know all the words and the videos inside out and their birthdays and foot size-you get it!
it's good to see simon and lawrence still there but poor old lol gone for good.
i was sooo gutted when i read the review for a gig they did at wembley recently 'cause it sounded like they just about played everything they'd ever done! and i didn't even know it was happening-would have loved to have been there.
not been too keen on newer stuff tho really-i think i started to be less into them after disintegration-and not really checked in with them for years, but all the really old stuff is like the soundtrack to my teens-in fact i'm gonna put some on right now
thanks for that!!

The song kind of sounds the same as what they've been doing for the last 10-15 years, but that's perfectly okay because I love The Cure! :)

I'm gonna see them on the 31st at the Hollywood Bowl. Can't wait. They were supposed to play back in Oct. or Nov., I forget, but cancelled to "finnish up the new material". Now they should be ready to play some of that new material. (y)

It does, but somehow this song is even more engaging and quirkier than all the other poppish upbeat songs they've done before. They are an amazing band.

Should be something along the lines of this recent clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps4vX8NIn5c&feature=related).

They sort of remind me of the Grateful Dead with the long shows and longevity of the band. I mean that in the best possible sense, as in sound, stage and fan quality. and they prolly sound even better after smokin' a spliff

Nice clip. A bowl will be had at the bowl. And a great show will ensue.

Isn't about time Robert Smith stopped looking like that?

That being said, wooo The Cure.
