my uncle is the manager of a few subways. he always gives me free subway cards... but he hasn't gave me any in a while
so i started buying the ingredients from the supermarket to make my favorite sub into a sandwich...

it cost about $20 to make 9 sandwiches.

ingredients are...
1 pound of genoa salami
1 pound of pepperoni
1 pound of pepper jack cheese
pepperidge farm sliced italian bread
lettuce
banana pepper rings
red onion
black olives
red wine vinegar
olive oil

i toast the meat, cheese and bread in the oven for a few minutes and then add the rest after it's done toasting...
putting the vinegar and oil over the lettuce, peppers, olives and
onions makes it taste extra delicious. i'm sure you can add as many kinds of veggies as you desire. i can never get sick of this sandwich...
i've been eating it everyday for lunch for a month :D it's pretty
filling and quick to make for people who are lazy like myself.

this thread inspired me to buy sandwich stuff. nothing as complex as what you've described (not that it's particularly complicated, it's just a lot of ingredients) but nuts, you can get a lot of lunch meat for not a lot of money, i should do this more often. how long do cold cuts stay good for (ham, salami, turkey, etc)?

also, what kind of bread should i be getting? i bought a thing of wheat bread which is honestly kind of boring. i was looking for sourdough but i didn't see it.

i was wrong about the quantity. i bought a pound of the genoa salami and pepperoni and it makes more than 9 sandwichs... probably around 14. i use this bread (http://www.pepperidgefarm.com/Images/Products/prdLarge_11763.jpg)... there are probably better tasting ones... but i didn't check any others. it actually taste pretty good... no different than the italian bread at subway. i'm not sure how long the meat stays fresh... but my mom used to work at a deli and she told me that pepperoni and salami is alright for at least a week.... i've had it for a week and it still smells, looks and tastes the same. i don't know about ham and turkey though.
