As a neutral I don't really mind, I just hope its a good game. The odds are against it, but it would be great if it was a cracker, especially as its all-Premier League.

I dunno who's gonna win...either team have a good shot at it.

Don't insult Pele like that, please.

Word!

People always use Pele's name to make foolish comparisons. No footballer will get close to what Pele was or did on a field. And I'm not being local. I'm only being realist (or realistic?? i never know). The only, let's say, 'modern player' that I could compare to Pele in some aspects is Zidane. He was very brilliant, intelligent and skilled for our today football.

I'm not saying Rooney sucks. But there's some light years of difference among him and Pele. No hate tho. :p

Its only a song, i felt like cheerin me team on, i was excited.

Pele once said that his favourite manchester united player was michael owen. Hahaha!

Good first half but we should have had 3 goals. Am very worried now.

Two awesome defenses.

rooney didnt even have a shot. and why did nani replace him? Essian is not playing well at all. in all honesty its looked pretty sloppy. Oh yeah, could Ronaldo bitch any more when he falls on himself? damn, i wish like Jesus Navas or really any winger from Spain or Italy would come to the premiership so it can be shown that most foreign players have skill as apposed to power. Though he has done well today, i will not lie, great efforts, btu damn he is a bitch.

im pulling for blues. cuz i hate people who like manchester. though i hate chelsea as a club. tough decisions i have to make. oh well, I like Lampard and Cech the most out of everyone out there, so I'll use them as the reason i want chelsea to win.

Ronaldo is still a bitch, also Anelka was picked over Trezeguet for Euros.... god the French Coach is a fucking idiot. 2nd top scorer for Serie A vs. A guy who has made 6 appearances for Chelsea and played for Bolton.

either way congrats man utd. now go pay those debts you have.

It was no where near a bad a match as I had expected.

First half, all United
Second half, all Chelsea.
Extra Time? Chelsea shaded it.

I dont like to see major tournaments settled on penalties, BUT as a neutral, you can't beat watching penos with a room full of people. Great craic!

Drogba's a cunt.
Glad Ronaldo missed his penalty.
John Terry is a big baby.

I think United bossed the first half. Could have easily been 2-0 up and there would have been no complaints. The Chelsea goal was fortunate, but fair play to Lampard on following up. The second half was generally all Chelsea, they could have scored twice.

Extra time was even in my book. Drogba is just an idiot..the whole melee was stupid. United kicking it out for a throw was only in retaliation to Chelsea doing the same thing twice earlier in the game, so there can be no complaints. Vidic would kill Drogba. If you're going to get sent off, make it something more respctable that a fucking slap. United made and created the best chance in extra time, as in Giggs'.

Carrick and Hargreaves were solid if not excellent...no one really imposed themselves on the game. Ferdinand and Vidic were also solid, and in all fairness, so was John Terry. Rooney and Tevez ran a lot but seemed a little isolated at times. There was nothing between the two teams.

I thought that was it when Terry stepped up. The two penalties following Ronaldo's for United were arguably the most important. Hargreaves banged his in, as I expected, as did Nani. Either way they kept United in it under enourmous pressure.

No doubt that Giggs would score, and Anelka didn't look happy going up to take his. Van Der Sar was gradually getting closer throughout.

Overall, I really enjoyed the game. Sure it was tense, and tight, but there have been far worse games between Chelsea and United. The fact United scored first helped, as Chelsea couldn't sit back and soak up the pressure, they had to go for it, meaning United also looked dangerous on the break. The break in the first half culminating in Tevez's header and Carrick's shot was simply awesome, exciting attacking football.

I'm pleased two English captains led out two English teams. I think Makelele's an idiot (just thought i'd put that in). I also think they may as well have gotten an English ref, it's two English teams...might as well play 'English rules' (i.e. a bit more physical). But I have no complaints, obviously it helps being a United fan. I'm glad we came out on top, worked extremely hard, defended like lions at times and created several clear chances.

I also think Ryan Giggs deserved to break the appearences record in such a rare type of game, and obviously a hugely important game. What a fitting end to the season he's had, and what an achievement in the modern game. Legend.

Ah, it was a good game really, it had a lot of talking points.

As a Gunner's fan the result is significant, in that you'll have to put up with gobby United fans for the next few years go on about it.

Plus, its worth it to see Drogba's career in English football fall to pieces live on telly.

Why people hate Ronaldo so much???
I can't understand. The boy is one of the most skilled players around. He's not afraid of using his technique. He's always searching for the goal. And the most important thing, he scores a lot and also makes assistances..
So, I don't fucking care if he whines, dives, fakes... He's still one of my favorites. You know the Nike campaign 'Joga Bonito'?? He's the personification of it.

So, congrats to you and the Reds!!!

Nygel
05-23-2008, 09:02 PM
you answered yourself why people dont like him. I see him as no real skill. In the EPL yeah, but as far as his 'skill' (tricks, quickness, etc.) he's a good spanish or italian player.

Simply put, his arrogance.

No one can deny his skill. What he does is insainly hard. Thats why you don't really see anyone else doing it on game in game out basis, because they can't. At the same time he is neutralized easily. In international games or in Europe against non EPL teams who take the space away from him. Without the space to use his skills at pace he is not very affective. Most notably against Milan in last years semis of the CL, and in the recently Portugal v. Italy friendly a couple months ago.

But Ronaldinho in his prime is much more joga bonito. He makes his team mates better. Ronaldo just plays for himself. Thats why he was crying at the end, because HE missed that penalty, not because his TEAM had just won the champions league.

Bollocks. I'd say he was very selfish a few seasons ago but over the last 2 years his team play and hard work have gone fairly unnoticed. Yes he has a whinge but who the fuck doesnt nowadays. Rooneys worse than him for that.
And he was crying probably because he had gone thru a massive u turn of emotion just like most united fans that night.

Everything he does is for him. Pumping himself up so he can go to Real Madrid and bring them back to glory. Man U is just a pit stop for him.

dave790
05-24-2008, 07:55 PM
Where is the proof that Ronaldo was crying because he missed his penalty? His reaction at Van Der Sar's save is one of joy and relief - and, as Guy put it, a turn of emotions. I do not think he was criyng over his own missed chance of owning the limelight, as you seem to suggest. It's based on nothing.

Secondly, a pit stop? 5 years and counting... and also, Man United are the biggest club in the world. Even if he leaves, United will cope and prove themselves successful over the next few years. I have that belief. No one is bigger than the club. If he goes, United will have £100 million to spend on attacking talent.

Besides, Rooney is more valuable to the team anyway.

Nygel
05-24-2008, 08:52 PM
rooney more valuable?! are you serious. not even on the field is he. I hate the cry baby bitch of a footballer that ronaldo is but damn he is one popular piece of shit, and is the touch of style from other clubs that the english seem to wow over. Rooney is just some lumberjack lookin forward who really doesnt seem to be scoring half as much as people thought he would. he was going to be the next big thing. now hes just a really good forward.

also whoever pays 100m for ronaldo is a fucking idiot. quaresma is just abotu as good and he'd go for 17m

Take Ronaldo off that team, I'd be willing to bet they don't win EITHER title this year. Take Rooney off and Tevez could do the job without missing a beat.

Rooney makes the people around him tick with his work rate, clever runs and good passing. A lot of his work goes unnoticed while others get the accolades. Sure his finishing needs a bit of work but you only have to look at that ridiculously good pass to ronaldo in first half of the final as an example of what hes capable of. And he is only 22, there is plenty of time and i have no doubt he will be one of the greats.
Also, of the 6 games man u lost this season Wayne missed 5 of them and we were drawing the other one but he went off injured and we got beat.

Rooney is massively overated.

He's a good player, so every Man Utd fan calm down now, but he simply isn't as good as he's made out to be. He was non-existent at the CL final. Biggest game of his career and he may as well not been there.

But people go on about him that's hes so amazing I just don't see it. He is good, undoubtedly, but he just doesn't add to a game/team what some people say.
