Pretty charming movie. I didn't expect to actually get teary-eyed, though.
There's a French kid who's put front and center who has zero charisma, so that was weird, because everybody's treating him like a rock star.
There's a payoff to that at the end, but it still doesn't explain the idolization of this kid by the English.
B-.

it's got a really good buzz going on about it...

It does a really nice job with the whole shifting dynamic of friendship at that age. That part of it seemed very, very real to me. How the one
kid draws the dweeb in, feeling kind of superior but still genuinely liking him, and then as they gain more friends, the superior kid feels more and
more jealous because it's not just the two of them alone anymore... nicely, nicely done.
Good movie. (y)
but then, there'll be something else like the French kid or the one kid's brother who are just so badly miscast and act so poorly that it's weird...
like, how can you get this much so right and get that part so wrong?

Supposedly Sly gave it his blessing.
But, yeah -- every Rambo movie needs a flying warrior dog. (y)

yeah, I agree with the stuff you said. I didn't mind the french kid so much though. but the older brother was awkward, and made more so by the fact that the actor who plays him is on Gossip Girl. the ending is soooo cheesy.
the whole thing was very cute. the two main kids were very natural and extremely charming. I found myself getting a little eager for it to end though.
