Clinton also suggested some were trying to "cover up" Sen. Clinton's chances of winning in key states that Democrats will have to win in the
general election.

" 'Oh, this is so terrible: The people they want her. Oh, this is so terrible: She is winning the general election, and he is not. Oh my goodness,
we have to cover this up.' "

Clinton did not expound on who he was accusing.

The former president added that his wife had not been given the respect she deserved as a legitimate presidential candidate.

"She is winning the general election today and he is not, according to all the evidence," Clinton said. "And I have never seen anything like it.
I have never seen a candidate treated so disrespectfully just for running."

....The former president said Sunday that the media had unfairly attacked his wife since the Iowa caucuses, repeating an often-used charge
that press coverage had made him feel as though he were living in a "fun house."

"If you notice, there hasn't been a lot of publicity on these polls I just told you about," he said. "It is the first time you've heard it? Why do
you think that is? Why do you think? Don't you think if the polls were the reverse and he was winning the Electoral College against Senator
McCain and Hillary was losing it, it would be blasted on every television station?"

He added, "You would know it wouldn't you? It wouldn't be a little secret. And there is another Electoral College poll that I saw yesterday
had her over 300 electoral votes. ... She will win the general election if you nominate her. They're just trying to make sure you don't."

That is one of the more interesting dynamics of this nomination process, to see Bill Clinton seemingly politically off. Here is a guy who did basically the same thing Obama did in 1992, he knew his electorate, used his "Boy Governor" image and became the comeback kid who had a fresh new outlook for America.

He's sort of been dull on the campaign trail. I don't mean boring just not sharp and direct as before. They, Them....

His popular vote number is incorrect (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_vote_count.html), the Super delegates which the Clintons just a few short months ago said would be the ones to pull them through, well, that isn't working either (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_delegate_count.html).

who is "they"?

A) Democratic Party leaders
B) The media
C) The Obama campaign
D) Voters
E) A and B
F) A, B and C
G) "THEM, (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm458398720/tt0047573)" the horror horde of giant crawl-and-crush atomic ants from the 1954 film

Just curious, how old were you in 1992?

While Bill Clinton did not effectively clinch the nomination until the June 2 primaries in 1992 (http://www.kennesaw.edu/pols/3380/pres/1992.html), he had held a commanding lead over his Democratic challenger Jerry Brown since his March 17 wins in Illinois and Michigan.

Clinton's closest rival, Paul Tsongas, left the race two days after Clinton's Midwest victories. Brown stayed in despite trailing Clinton by more than 800 delegates.

Hillary makes it sound as if the 1992 nomination (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlpiDW2RB54) was a real nail biter for the democrats.

He did the correct thing for the times, he capitalized on the free media (negative, positive, neutral) which is smart. I believe Hillary is trying to do the same, which is savvy, unfortunately the free media has been ugly, and in the year 2008 it's the boards, blogs and instant media that is a major player in the race.

"It's the economy stupid" was the 1992 rallying cry for Clinton, I saw some political magazine yesterday at Borders and it nailed the 2008 rallying cry, "It's the Blogs Stupid".
