Appropriate attire for graduation...

Before I stress about trying to fit into one of my old suits or buying a new one I need advice. What is appropriate attire for a high school gradution held in the late afternoon?

my dad wore a suit to my graduation. he joked around earlier that he would wear shorts and a t-shirt, but i knew he wouldn't. :p
