At the very least, he's had some funny writers behind him on certain projects.

he certainly does his thing well, but most of the characters anymore are just lame. that ice skating one was pretty awful i thought

I like him, but he needs to stop doing sports movies, for the love of god.
wait, that basketball movie came out already? wow, I don't know a single person who saw it. eep.
the commentary for anchorman is one of the funniest things i've ever heard, he's pretty awesome on that

He is funny, he just doesn't always make very funny films.

Love anchor man!
Didn't mind blades of glory, was so random it made me laugh.

I saw the basketball one. Not too bad, actually. He lets Woody Harrellson and Andre 3000 have their moments and his character isn't an over-the-top asshole like they have been. Bit of a character stretch for him because he actually does care about his team but has no idea how to run it.
It's worth renting probably. Comes out Tuesday in the States.
And it's Will FERRELL and Colin FARRELL.

Ricky Bobby gets funnier everytime I watch it and Old School was a classic. Semi-Pro & Blades of Glory were complete shit.
His new movie looks hilarous though, Step-Brothers. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6Nx61qtdbg)
...but I agree, he's turning into Adam Sandler with making the same movie and using the same actors over and over again.

He can be funny in very very small doses. Like when he was on Undeclared.
And that Landlord clip is hilarious. Otherwise, I am not a fan.

Lets be honest, you just wanted to use that not equal to sign someplace and came up with a thread to fit the part.
Anyways, on the topic at hand. He can be really good. Like some have said, anchorman was excellent.
I think his problem is hes putting out too much stuff. There has been an oversaturation of the market. I think if say Vince Vaughn had continued to shell out movies after wedding crashers and dodgeball in the same vein as Ferrell has done that his shtick would get a bit stale as well.
But hes not not funny. Hes funny. Just needs to be the right role, and pace himself a bit more.
