i'm preparing a writing sample for internships, and i'm using something i wrote at my last internship, only i wrote it with wordperfect (that's all they had on their computers). i e-mailed the document to myself before i left, however i do not have wordperfect, so i can't seem to open it or work with it at all. i tried microsoft word, but it asked me to install a converter from the windows XP disk, which i've lost i think. i tried wordpad and notepad, but they just popped up a bunch of weird ass symbols, so that's no good either.

how do i get the words off of that there document?

I'd say OpenOffice would open it, it opens lots of things.

And its free!

yes i had the same problem before i bought a thousand pound laptop with NO OFFICE PACKAGE ON IT. so i stole someone else's office suite.

download the office file converter pack (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cf196df0-70e5-4595-8a98-370278f40c57&DisplayLang=en).

install. open word. file > open > in 'files of type' select wordperfect > select your document > OKAY!

!

OpenOffice does everything MS Office does and more! No more need to steal anything!

Well...you still should be using OpenOffice, as microsoft are the devil incarnate.
