CHICAGO - History within his reach, Barack Obama was primed to claim the Democratic presidential nomination today or soon after
as voters in Montana and South Dakota bring his months-long contest with dogged rival Hillary Rodham Clinton to a close. Clinton
appeared ready to bow to the inevitable and spare the party an even more protracted fight.
Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe said today that once Obama gets the majority of convention delegates, "I think Hillary
Clinton will congratulate him and call him the nominee."
The outcome could come by the end of the day with some choreography by the party's superdelegates.

not so fast
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton's is "absolutely not" prepared to concede the race for the Democratic presidential nomination to Sen. Barack Obama, her campaign chairman said.
Sen. Hillary Clinton trails Obama by 159 delegates and is 201 delegates shy of capturing the nomination.
Terry McAuliffe rejected as "100 percent" incorrect an Associated Press report that Clinton is preparing to acknowledge that Obama has the delegates to win the nomination Tuesday night as the five-month Democratic primary process comes to a close.
Obama "doesn't have the numbers today, and until someone has the numbers the race goes on," McAuliffe told CNN...

Ah -- you beat me to it.
Yeah, I thought about updating this thread, but thought a new thread title might be funnier.
Oh, well.
My co-worker was making fun of me for believing she was dropping out.

If Hillary Clinton vows to fight all the way to the convention she would lose not only money, political capitol and respect, she would lose any sort of conciliatory prize, such as VP or appointments in the Obama White House :D!!!
just saying from what I'm reading here in Seattle @ 1:01 PST. It's over.

well it seems Clinton has been persueded to drop out friday.
I get the feeling it was not voluntary from her speach last night.
I also want someone to hold the frankly disgusting Clinton supporters to task who are on TV the last 24 hours crying sexism and saying they'll donate in droves and vote for McCain.
Guess they don't like women's rights since he's already vowed to do everything in his power to overturn Roe v. Wade. Guess they really don't belive in getting our troops out of Iraq since he's primed to stay and start more fights in the name of democracy. Guess they really don't want universal healthcare since he's about the last person to give two squirts of piss about it. Guess they only care about perpetrating stereotypes about women that I thought we had moved on past, like emotional irrationalism, lack of emotional fortitude, and being vindictive when not getting their way.
Why is it Obama has to make a speach and a concession when a supporter of his says something retarded yet Clinton supporters can spew bile and falsehoods left and right and Clinton has yet to be called to task to do the same thing Obama has been pressed to do so many times?

You're now becoming a defender of Wright? Good luck with that.
Even Obama himself is running as far as he can from that nutcase.

Not a defender of either one, I am questioning why OBAMA has to answer for them yet CLINTON does not have to answer for her supporters public outlandishness.
