I would guess that the more you handle it the more use to you it will get and the less biting it will do.

but I've only ever had rats. Never had a hampster.

I always pre-handle the hamsters in the pet shop so I know if they are biters or not. I never purchase any that do bite me :(

my hammie got hurt on sunday night. she took a flying leap from my boyfriends hands as he was walking back to her cage. she hit the floor funny and pee peed herself and then was in shock for a bit. then she was obsessivley bitting/cleaning herself for hours. she seems perfectly fine now since monday, but if you put her on a table or couch she gets all twitchy when she reaches the edge. I hope its scared her for life!

i had no chance to, they just asked for the breed and color and just put it in my transport box
