I rent 2 a weekend here's the little list I carry around in my wallet of flicks I been wanting to get around to but have been waiting for them to go into the "cheap" section…pick 2 that you've seen and recommend for me would ya?
"Scenes of a Sexual Nature"
"The Hoax"
"The Invasion"
"Mr Brooks"
"Perfume: The Story of a Murderer"
"The Conquest"
"You Kill Me"
"Redacted"
"Shoot 'Em Up"

The Hoax is pretty good.
The parts of Mr. Brooks that are good are really something. But none of the Demi Moore stuff works at all and kind of drags it down. It's worth seeing.

I'm kind of surprised you liked Mr. Brooks, it got horrible reviews. Not that that always counts for anything but...
Moot: Sort of surprised you want to see The Invasion. I heard it was horrible. I'll probably watch it because I love Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig but I don't expect much.
Perfume
And watch it with someone prude.
Shoot Em Up. Completely over the top...in a good way.

The premise is pretty nifty. Mainly, it's the chemistry between Costner and William Hurt that sells the thing. And it's the only time I'll ever
probably think Dane Cook was effective, though I still can't decide.
Yeah, most folks didn't like it much. I was happy to see A.V. Club essayed it on a Guilty Pleasure Monday. (y)

Perfume

I'm leaning towards it but I've been advised to read it first...

a-z: Well that's cool. Is Dane Cook effective because he gets killed early on?
Moot: Fair enough. I feel that way about Nicole Kidman movies. I don't care, I just love her, I'd watch anything she's in. :o I sat through the first two hours of Dogville and eventually just had to shut it off, though.

He's effective (I think) because the guy he plays is awkward and grating as hell, but he's got this kind of base, fratboy malice that drives him.
And arrogance. He thinks he has the upper hand the whole time and you almost feel sorry for him because he misjudges the situation and
Mr. Brooks' intelligence so, so badly.

So mostly Dane Cook just being Dane Cook.

I have not but any Ewan movie with "Sexual" in the title is good enough for me.
Done and done.
We are talking about Ewan MacGregor here, right?

I don't think I've seen any where he shows what he's working with.
I've been remiss, I've heard its... well, totally worth it.

perfume is one of my favorite movies
why read it when you can watch it? IDIOTS!
shoot 'em up is good for a cheap laugh but it's pretty cheese. i thought mr. brooks was dumb, kevin costner movies usually are. the invasion for the most part is alright, nothing spectacular, but the chase sequence at the end nearly ruined it. meanwhile perfume was fantastic, i read the book years ago and from what i remember the movie was faithful to it.

Thread revival...week long rentals from the old section of my vid store that I'm wondering about picking up...
I think I'm gonna rent "The Kray’s"… (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099951/)because I saw a bio on them the other night...I saw the movie years ago but don't recall it much...also:
"The Best of Youth"… (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0346336/)...I keep coming across this in my reading/searching so I figure I should see it...
"Dead Mans Shoes"… (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419677/)...from the director of "24/7" and "This is England"...I always walk past it in the Brit section...along with "Hooligans"… (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385002/)Elijah Wood as a soccer hood?...
