Yeah so I rented the Disney film last week with my kid, and so it got me thinking about making some. So I just made it and I tried to be really careful to keep the veggies from being to mushy and 'retaining their individual shape and flavour' and all but bugger it, I just can't seem to make it work.:(
Tastes very nice, though. I used this recipe. (http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/ratatouille,1158,RC.html) Dead easy. Except for the not-being-mushy part.

as a kid ratatouille was my second most hated dish (macaroni cheese has the #1 honour - still does) but i think it may be one of my adult acquired tastes now... maybe.
i'll actually give that recipe a shot at the end of the week. i have four salad tomatoes that i buy meaning to use in a salad/wholemeal veg tortilla but never do, so hot in a dish like this might be the way forward.
<3 delia. she has the most fantastic recipe for coq au vin we make regularly on there, too.

You'll get it.
It's funny how many recipes snap into place the second time. (y)

peachy, did you serve this with anything or just on its own? crusty bread?
i am definitely making it on friday if the aubergines aren't too pricey  so i'm trying to line up a weekend's meals purely from this one dish, haha.

What, watch a Disney movie with her? LOL It wasn't exactly a big sacrifice...

I did just serve it with a crusty bread, yeah. But it would also be good with rice. That Delia recipe made enouch for mr.p and I each to have to large bowls, with a small amount left over I am going to have for lunch tomorrow with rice.

The follow up: making ratatouille.
Though, watching something with your kid is a big deal, too. You take that for granted.

ms. peachy, i regret to inform you that i have gone back on my promise to make the dish in question! :( but only because i found a tin of kidney beans and the back of the cupboard and realised i had all the ingredients to make a shit hot vegetable chilli that will last for a wee while. NEXT WEEKEND.
