lately I've been riding the rails to work without my headphones since I've changed job locations and have no wall locker to put my mp3 player in when I get there.

I've been riding the trains for 2 weeks without my usual commute of wearing my headphones and listening to my favorite music with my eyes closed and blocking everyone out till I reach my stop.

I've noticed that with my lack of music, I'm a grouchy ole bastid. I'm like a chain smoker that hadn't had a puff in 20 minutes.

As soon as I get home and put my headphones on, it's status- calm and relaxed.

Question: Do you think that most people are social butterfly's? This is a deeply rooted question for me bc, for the most part, I don't like talking to people. And I sure as hell don't want to make friends w/ the taxi driver ie subway etc. And my take on the whole bar scene is that everyone is wearing their masks playing parlour games to get laid or use others as some sort of social networks stepping stone. Maybe other people do actually like and crave the social interaction of others --Or do they--Everyone I've seen like that seems to have some sort of agenda--Ranging from either financial gain or some sort of codependency disorder

So do you think it's the music or that just if we as people had any sort of distraction from reality we'd grasp to it. I love music and use my headphones religiously- It is a great escape plan from the here and now.
