How the guy in any romance/romantic comedy has to do something that's incredibly over-the-top heroic or romantic in order to win the girl over.

It just sets the bar way too high.

Robin williams explains that he didnt go and see some massive baseball game he had tickets for to stay in a bar chatting up a girl saying he "had to go see about a girl". he does when he is counsellin matt damon and he eventually helps damon sort his head out so he can attend this dead good uni course but when it comes to big day he has vanished and gone looking for minnie driver leaving a note for williams saying "he had to go see about a girl".

you have to see it really, that explanation is pants.

my point is that the film didnt make a big thing about the guy trying to win the girl.

This is true as well. I really hate hollywood depictions of nerds, they are always too quirky and interesting, i.e. napoleon dynamite, superbad.

One is always a laid-back, immature slob and the other an anally retentive old whiner and they want to kill eachother for most of the film, but in the end some drama happens and one has to save the other and they become best buddies.

bad boys two is awesome! it's so awesome that it's a parody of itself and serious at the same time! there's a part where martin lawrence and will smith are trying to take down the crazy bad guy who looks like jesus, so they have a tiny robot drive up to a bunch of soldiers and the robot explodes and then a guy pops out of a hole in the ground and shoots a bazooka into the bad guy's house and then will smith and martin lawrence pop out of caskets with machine guns and kill everyone!
