what sports do you lot play? For hobby, professionally or whatever? Does anyone hold any records for stuff? I only ask this as the only interesting thing i can think to say at the minute is that i am about to go out and play badminton. We just play for a laugh. I am shit but its fun and its the only excerise i get. Apart from sex.. no hold on, badminton is the only exercise i get!

rollerderby? Educate a an old british fart here. Is that just bombing round a track on skates or is there more to it like jumps or fights like rollerball or summat?

I like to drive cars very fast for my hobby. I have an addiction for speed and can never really go fast enough. My name at certain tracks is "Iwanna Gofaster." I've been doing this since I was able to touch the gas and brake pedal. I was once sponsored for skating and snowboarding, but lost them both after an injury. I still skate around the local park once in a while, but my balance is going south fairly quick. So, it's mainly just hitting my marks at around 150 mph and feeling my heart drop to my feet and then back up through my throat for hours on end. I also like to ride my bike through busy city streets to keep the fear factor alive and well.

Is Firefighting a sport? If so, I'm ok at it. Sure makes you sweat a lot.

i don't do any sports for 'pleasure' anymore. i don't like sweating intentionally. apart from in the bedroom LOL
i swim 2/3 times a week and go to the GYM. it is dull dull dull. swimming is alright, i guess. it is relaxing. i just get pissed off when it gets too busy and i have to navigate around dozens of people coming at me from the opposite direction. i also have a new found hatred for people who do the butterfly stroke in pools. if i could hire a lane to myself out, i would. ahh.. to have a private pool.
i wish i could get together with some friends and play more team sports. like, really fucking violent hockey.. or basketball. i was okay at that at school. mostly the being violent part though. yeah.
i think tennis looks like a cool sport to play. i'd settle for badminton though - looks like it requires considerably less exertion, which is always a good thing.

Badminton is good. It can get knackering but its not as dear as the gym, there are courts everywhere and its easy to play.

I wish I could play floor hockey, but I never try to figure out how to join a league. doing a little searching now, it looks like I've missed all the deadlines for summer leagues, or they don't exist. weak.
I ride a bicycle, but that only gets competitive sometimes.
I'd probably like to play basketball too, but I'd probably suck really bad on a team since I haven't played competitively since high school.

have you ever stopped at a red light alongside another bicycle, made eye contact with the person, and challenged each other to a drag race? like you ring the bell, spin the pedals backwards, and look forward intensely and then take off?
oh wait what am i saying, of course you don't, you jerks never stop at red lights

pfft, I always stop at red lights unless I'm sure there are absolutely no cars in sight.
no, but I do race people when they are rude and pull up ahead of me at a stop and assume that I won't be fast because I am positioned in a place I think is safe and stable, rather than as far out into traffic as I can be.
If I'm there first, they should pull up behind me. and if they don't. they get blasted, I build up speed and yell, "on your left!" and breeze by. (unless I can see that they have a super fast bike, then I let them just go.) the only part that sucks is I have to keep up a high speed so I don't look like a wimp. and that makes me sweaty and out of breath usually.

I thought this thread was gonna be about clam diggers.
I play football with work colleagues and play the odd bit of tennis on our court but since the summer has done nothing but rain (and it a hard court) it's been too slippy.
Other than that I go to the gym once a blue moon (gym is boring) and try to skateboard as much as I can early weekend mornings. The skatepark is usually empty at that time. Come midday it's full of alternative kids pretending they can skate and kids asking you to show them how to do things.

Three weeks ago I decided to get back on a skateboard after about 25 years. Did real good. Felt great. 90minutes later fell off and broke my right elbow.
So either I'm getting too old, should do more sports or waaaaaaaay less.

P.S.: Wearing a cast might be medically reasonable, but it, well, sucks three weeks in... (n)

I know the feeling. I went on a skate hiatus during my final year at uni and found it hard to get back on my board.
I know how you feel on the old front, I'm 27 and everyone else on the skate parks seem to be 10 - 20 years old.

my husband goes through this thing twice a year where he's gonna take up skateboarding again.
20 mins later he's licked and has a bruised booty from falling so much. it sucks getting old and still wanting to do the things you did when you were younger.

you know, rollerskating is probably the one thing i can say i'm extremely good at with all confidence. when i roller skate it's like i shoulda been born with those wheels on my feet.

Yeah, sucks indeed... Continuing the "old fart" aspect some more: There's a great line in Clooney's "Confessions of a dangerous mind" I really like. Goes somewhat like this - "In everyone's life there's a moment when 'what you can be' becomes 'what you could have been.'"
On that note - guess I'll have to scratch "Skate God" of my list :(:D

I can guarantee your mother was glad you werent. That would be painful.
Kickball with my cousins and some of their friends. Good times. But I always pull my hamstring the first kick no matter how much I stretch. And by the time it feels better its time to play again. its a viscous cycle.
i keep telling myself im going to skate a lot again, but never do. Last time I got on a skateboard it was a challenge to ollie with some speed.
