I'm just curious cus I just spent $700 on 4 tickets to a football (US) game. I'm not too worried bout it though cus two are for me and a buddy and I can probably sell the other two for like $500 in a month or so....

dunno, probably $60 for a weekend festival. or I suppose I paid a little more than that last year to see the beastie boys with bgrr101.

I'm not really into paying a lot of money for a one day event.

Probably either tix to see Rage at Coachella last year ($150, if memory serves) or seeing Weezer up in Seattle back in '05 ($120?). Both well worth it though.

Going to Stockholm to see the Beasties probably cost about £300 when you included flights and accomodation etc. Money well spent though.

I've paid over the odds a couple of times for sold out concerts on ebay, but it's always been worth it as i've had cracking seats.

The most i've ever spent on a single ticket was for Leeds festival. I paid £125 (i think!) which is $248 for a weekend camping ticket.

i paid about $200 for last year's Virgin Festival. totally worth it to see the Beasties and be so close to The Police.

The only music act I would pay big money to see is the Beasties, I went back in 98' but not sure how much I paid. Our seats weren't great but now that I"m adult and such I could probably afford something better. Sports are another thing all together though...I'm already saving for when the Browns go to the Superbowl

^ its a good thing you have a long time to save for that one!

i paid $250 for the 4 day pass to bonnaroo. as for single show, the most ive ever paid was $50 for clapton.

sporting events, i put out $100 for a stanley cup finals ticket, and it was well worth it

Just the ticket?
For a single concert, I think Lou Reed (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/sets/72157606090607173/) the other day was the most expensive I've ever paid, 900,- SEK for just the ticket.
Festivals...hmm... I haven't been to any several day festivals this year (yet...), as the prices have gone up quite a lot.
Where the action is (http://www.wheretheactionis.se/) was 895,- SEK, Foo Fighters (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/sets/72157605714633132/), the Hellacopters (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/sets/72157605720693179/), QOTSA (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/sets/72157605716353454/), Hives (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/sets/72157605717594143/), Dinosaur Jr. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/sets/72157605700115084/), Dirty Pretty Things, Mando Diao,
Sahara Hotnights (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/sets/72157605718971087/) and Johnossi, so totally worth every penny.
Paid 1000,- for Hultsfred 2006 (http://www.rockparty.se/festivalen/festivalhistorik/2006.aspx), bought from someone who couldn't go.

But then, if you add travel and stufff....
Beastie Boys in Paris (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/sets/72157603649282841/) last year amounted to quite a lot.
And BRMC UK tour 2007 (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2194/1893419141_1c706bcfe6.jpg?v=0) as well... 10 gigs around the British islands...

Just the ticket?
Yeah, that's my question.

Sad to say, I've paid $300-450 per ticket about a dozen times to go to concerts when I insisted on having good tickets. I've had to pay brokers for Radiohead tickets more than for any other band.

If you count travel, then Beasties win, but I almost always get a whole vacation out of it. Beasties play small venues in cool cities. (y) And they never come to me. (n)

I have done this before too, but many more times I have been comped or treated quite generously with great seats. I also am very aware of the "ticket drop" method many bands do to curtail scalpers and brokers. I would say that at least a dozen times I've walked up to the ticket booth to a soldout show (with my crap tickets in hand) and found better seats within the first 20 rows. I'll buy 'em and dump my other tickets at cost, below or for free.

So back to the topic at hand, I just spent $500 for 2 Springsteen tickets, 5th row section 3 Field (https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/905/10m/origin.media.ticketmaster.com/en-us/tmimages/venue/maps/ny1/21560s.gif), NY Giants stadium July 31. I'm in the Big Apple for a week and since I love NY and the last Springsteen show in Seattle blew me away I didn't even think twice. Jumped on it, to me it's a bargain and actually an investment.

Not sure yet. My buddy ordered them online and I think he said they were $40 or so if I recall right, but the tickets won't come in the mail till about Thursday so I'll know for sure then. I'll let you know where I'm at.
