I've been keeping up with the news coming out and even watching some of the conferences. I got to say, the conferences from Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony are leaving something to be desired. Nintendo's was flat out bad.
I was looking forward to Nintendo and Capcom showing of some stuff and Nintendo continues to stab the backs of the people who supported them through the GameCube. No hardcore games announced, we all just want casual stuff apparently. It was a big bar graph show to tell how many units they have sold. Ugh.
Capcom doesn't even talk about games. They showed off the new Lost Planet movie being made. They talked about nothing but a movie. At a game show.
The mind. It boggles.

idk, wii sports 2 with the MotionPlus (i think thats what its called) looks pretty sweet. Also GTA: Chinatown Wars for DS? Pending on a video, I will probably be buying a DS for that game. Mostly I thought it was cool that that is coming this year. But yeah, nothing really amazing talked about beyond that, but GTA is my favorite game series so that was great news to me. Though maybe a new Starfox or Dead Rising 2 would have been a lot better. Res Evil 5 though, and Fable 2.

Nintendo's conference was big time fail. That woman's (Cammie? Carrie?) akward jokes, no new hardcore games (where's Metroid? where's Kid Icarus?) and no new DS.
On the bright side the Wii Motion thing looks good, Animal Crossing looks like it might be the best one yet, and we finally get a Wii Mic.
But all in all, c'mon Nintendo. I love you to death, but this casual stuff is killing me.

Might as well check them out here (http://www.gametrailers.com/) if you want.

I jumped the Nintendo fan ship a few years back. The GameCube was pretty average and The Wii just seemed like a joke. Now it looks like they've lost it completely.

Don't they have the best selling latest-generation console on the planet?
The Wii is great.
The new POP looks really good. It's based on the assassins creed engine but uses cel shading. Can't wait (y)

Fan of POP and I like the way the art style looks.

Truth.

It's gotten to the point where I have to have another current-gen system now. There is no way I can seriously play games and only own a Wii. This is not the Nintendo I once knew. It's like they're purposely making the games shallow. They said Twilight Princess would be the last time we see Zelda in the way we're used to and if the next Zelda is something casual then my head is going to explode.
P.S. Wii Music looks like utter crap. Why not just pretend you're playing an instrument? At least other music games have you hitting buttons and messing with timing and rhythm.

I've never played or owned a POP game since the very first one but I love the art direction and style of this new one.

exactly.
Because its for the casual person as well as the true gamer. I own a 360 as well. and maybe one day a PS3 (if one day PS3 will update the fucking thing to where it reads blu-rays the speed that they can be read now so you dont have to install the thing on you're system. Also if they have any game that the 360 doesn't have that I care about.)

PS3 dropped in price. Hmmmm...
*thinking*
I wonder if they could try RTS games on Wii. Having the controller function more like a mouse might make that possible.
Quick impressions of the keynotes.
Microsoft; Pretty much only playable demos for an hour. Rock! Gears 2 and Fallout 3 fuck yes I need those both right now. Resident Evil 5 worldwide release next March. Awesome.
Sony; Fat guy talks about numbers, graphs, and videos. Resistance 2 demo. Looks a little sluggish. Oh shit Little Big Planet... used to display more graphs and numbers. More videos. Downloadable movies for a fee which aren't material blah blah. Playstation Home video. Promises that it'll be worth waiting for. Gran Turismo tv... sounds like niche programming. MAG video... 256 players at once?! too good to be true. Way too short God of War trailer zzzzz. Even the Fable 2 demo was more interesting than the entire hour and 15 minutes.
Nintendo; An add on for the wiimote. Who saw that coming? Super scope-esque. The device won't make sense unless it's used for FPS's. Doubtful we'll be getting those. Wii Sports Resort... you can throw a frisbee to a dog. Wow. I did this on the DS with Nintendogs. Reggie says it's "cute". Just why I bought a Wii! Boring, bad jokes. Nothing truly exciting, unfortunately.
I'm on the fence about the PS3 price drop. An 80 gig for $399 with no backwards compatibility? One step forward, two steps back. I may be content using someone else's PS3 to finish MGS4.

Pretty much. I need it to be around $250 and have more exclusives I want before I'll take the plunge.
I worked on some of the graphics that went into the Nintendo show! :D
Don't blame me if it was boring, I was just following orders.
You can only shine a turd so much, my friend. I was only speaking for the games and jokes. At least it was more interesting than the PS3 presentation. *tepid applause*
Oh yeah, Dead Space for PS3... looks very interesting. I'm hoping Mirror's Edge does well too.

The only thing that I've really cared about that came out of E3 so far was Microsoft announcing that you will be able to stream Netflix movies on your 360 in the fall. Good thing I heard about the rumors before... otherwise I might have been tempted to buy that Roku thing.

Indeed it is. I've had ten times more fun on it than I have my 360. I mean, one could argue we're being greedy...after all, the Wii has only been out a year and already we have a Zelda, Mario, and Metroid. And we get Wario and Animal Crossing for the rest of the year....but still. Where are the new first party DS games?

My theory is they shot their load early to please all the hardcore gamers and now they got nothing. It won't be until 2009 that we start seeing some of those games released again from Nintendo themself.
E3 was dull this year, (and the last, to be honest) but the biggest announcement for me was Final Fantasy 13 being ported to the 360 after it is released on the PS3, and it's /only/ coming to North America on 360. That had me laughing. PS3 is quickly losing exclusives.

It will be interesting to see how well the 360 version of FF sells. I know it'll probably move at least a million.

The head guy of Nintendo did say in an interview that 'the pikmin team, zelda team, and mario galaxy team are very hard at work' which of course implies a second galaxy. Which is awesome.
I'll still get the PS3 version of Final Fantasy 13, though. And Nygel, yeah I heard about new Wii and DS Zelda games.

I'm excited about that Street Fighter, in theory. It looks a lot like third strike and I'm hoping it plays as such.
I say in theory because I don't own any consoles, except a PS2 which has basically been downgraded to use as a DVD player and DDR machine. So I won't get to play any of this new stuff anyway.
I feel like the Wii overall is a disappointment. It's fun for a little while but I could never see playing by myself, or for very extended periods of time. I also don't like how it's marketed as being this great form of physical activity. I feel that it's sort of misleading. Yeah it's more active than playing something with a regular controller, but it's hardly a workout. I wish that Nintendo would redirect their focus instead of developing cutesy novelty items for the Wii.
I reallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreally want a 360. Also, the Netflix deal is pretty awesome.
Anyone got $350 to spare? :o
