Fascinating article about how oil-addicted western government's seek to spread lies about Chavez..

Lies, kidnapping and a mysterious laptop (http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/johann-hari/johann-hari-lies-kidnapping-and-a-mysterious-laptop-861286.html?startindex=40)

Interesting stuff.

The sad thing is that the lies are believed, and when the opposition to Chavez do entirely non-democratic things to topple him (Bosses locking out workers in 2006, paying people to vote against him) nobody believes it. The only thing you can hope for is that the opinions of the people outside of Venezuela, or anywhere else that would go against the status quo, don't end up changing their system to suit big business.

Asshole commie. I hope he ends up like that murderer Guevara.

70 years ago you'd all be writing such careful and well thought through things about Stalin or Hitler, famous socialists and people's defenders.

And why is locking out workers non-democratic? [providing you don't think democracy means the governance of stupid masses] Long live Capitalism!

Luckily for us your ranting and lying falls on deaf ears, and if anyone WAS open to your point of view, they wouldn't get anything from that last post since it barely makes any sort of sense at all.

Thank you, Freetibet, for stopping by and embarrassing yourself for my amusement once again.

like him or not, hugo chavez was elected with overwhelming majorities in very free, monitored, open elections. even a former conservative contributor to this board described chavez as a "paper tiger".

Yeah, I'm sure his people just truely love him too.

They reap a lot of those rewards he gets don't they.

Contrast the way Chavez has redistributed oil wealth to the way the Saudis have.

He's no angel, but then again, who in world politics is?

its amazing to me how all conservatives have this knee jerk Pavlovian reaction to all things socialist, even though 80% of the time they dont even really completely understand what socialism is.

Ok, so Chavez was elected with something like 68% of the vote.. and we all still think his people hate him?

The article describes some of those "rewards" that "aren't" getting to "people". Venezuelans are easily and unarguably better of now than before their revolution.
