yes

there's potential. Although I'm a bit dubious.
However, considering the remake of Dawn of the Dead and 300, I think it will be at LEAST entertaining.

"From the visionary director of '300'"
Yes, the man knows how to use green and blue screen, let's hand him a Best Director Oscar based on the trailer.

Looks awesome- something to be insanely stoked about next summer! Now back to my regularly scheduled excitement for the Dark Knight!

adam f you don't know what you're talking about shut up or i'll kick your ass
watchmen is one of my favorite things that i've ever read, so i've been worried that this movie will be terrible but judging from the trailer i'm optimistic. they made it look just about right i think, from what i can see, anyway. dr. manhattan looks good

I do know what I'm talking about because my neighbor tried for a long time to get me to enjoy Watchmen but I never got into it because I like reading things that aren't terrible.

You seriously think this looks good?
I do...i dont see whats wrong with it.
If you've read the original you would see that it looks very accurate...and if you have read the original then you'd know just how good the story is.
Granted, I still think there's a high chance this will dissapoint, because the source material is so good. Plus there's the problem that Heroes series one stole their finale.
But it looks fine so far.

David Hayter will not fail. He says it coming along great so it is great. Nuff said.

Hmm, there wasn't anything completely ridiculous to complain about, but I'm still wary. It's by the asshole who did 300, so I'm not getting my hopes too high. If there are more than 2 slo-mo scenes I'm probably going to be angry.
seriously.....id say 90% of big films these days are either remakes or adaptations from tv/comics....its out of control

Dont forget Games. Video games!
lol come on we all known it entertainment marketing but at least now these movies lately are becoming more satisfying from where they started. Batman Begin has got it spot on compared to Batman and Robin - no doubt about that. Plus Batman Forever beats the shit out of the Batman series where Adam West starred in. And who could say the Super Friends from Hanna-Barbera were better than the Justice Unlimited? NONE! Now that Marvel Studios is calling the shot we got to see a satisfying movie of Hulk and Iron Man with all the original actors to be cast in cross over movie comics and no one else to replace. Hell even the brain master of all that is Iron Man FANDOM loved the movie a lot and walked out with a big fucken grin like this > :D
I dunno, those that usually complain about movies have this high expectation of what they want to see and when they do they become pissy. Give me a break its a movie. Watch it. Like it or not. Move on.

I rewrote some B-52's lyrics*

whaaaaaaTTTTTT. that shit looks ill as all fuck. i saw this trailer at the movies and there sighs, whoo-hooo's at the end. maybe its because also i really dig the smashing pumpkins remake?, despite the fact that it was also the main song for one of the 90s batman movies,"the end its the beginning is the end (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV_XMQ7uXHA&feature=related)". actually it was weird i saw this when i saw batman a few months ago

So anyone heard the status of this? Last I heard the buttholes at FOX studios had won their law suit and this movie will NOT be released. Damn shame if you ask me.

thats why I questioned.
ha, I had a gut feeling Pruit Igoe would be a song in Watchmen. Its starting to become a popular track now just like Requiem. But I guess Pruit Igoe fits well.

I'm seriously pumped for this now. All of the characters look great, but Adrian and Laurie look a little young for my liking. :(
Also, how about Mickey from Seinfeld is playing Big Figure? (y)

This is going to be a huge movie, no doubt, but I'm not completely sold on whether Watchmen will translate well onto the big screen. I also think the director is a pretty giant douche.
I have low expectations, I hope this is a home run like the Dark Knight and not a bunt like V for Vendetta.

I feel like I should be excited and I just can't get there.

Really? I thought 300 was total tripe, but I have been nothing but impressed with the trailers. They look exciting and it appears to mirror the book successfully, from what I've seen in stills.
I'm givin' hope a chance.

Don't get me wrong, I want this to succeed. But for me, part of the magic of Watchmen was how events were all juxtaposed together and everything people said had some sort of second meaning. I dunno if that kind of panel-to-panel transition can work onscreen. Maybe I'm over thinking the technical elements...
The first trailer with the Smashing Pumpkins song attached to it was amazing and I won't lie, aside from the "300" comment in the text, I got pretty psyched for it. However, last time I put faith in a trailer on this level it was Jurassic Park III and that movie killed me.
I'm really excited to see the Dr. Manhattan element of the book, that was my favorite part. I am excited for this movie, but I don't want to build it up and have it all crash down on me. V for Vendetta and LXG did not go so well...you can't blame me for being skeptical about another Alan Moore comic turning into a cinematic turd fest.
I'm going to try to keep expectations low, but be hopeful they can deliver.

every time i see a clip/trailer of this i think "damn, that look pretty close to the comic"
so...im really looking forward to this.
but i can separate the book from the film....the film doesn't have to "live up" to the comic...cuz it can't...it just has to be a good film....and it looks like it could be....

I'm not completely sold on whether Watchmen will translate well onto the big screen. The thing though is, Warner Bros wanted to do the film from the the get go so it was inevitable...just that it took a very long time.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!
a bunch of numbnuts are bickering w/ each other on rotten tomatoes about a rumor regarding the ending. Apparently, someone's read something "that's confirmed" about there being no giant mutant squid alien that destroys NYC and that Dr. Manhattan freaks out and is responsible. Has to be bullshit since that would shred practically every storyline.
If this IS true, though, I'll be eternally pissed.

Well fuck-a-doodle-do, that's disappointing. It's bad enough they chopped out a lot of the back story as well as the entire Black Freighter story.

that "confirmed rumor" has been around for like... since i knew about the movie.
but yes, the squid is out, snyder has said so, he didnt write it but he said the ending still holds the meaning of the story and shit. idk, fuck it, the proposed removal of the device at the end is cool, cuz that device was actually lame, yes i understand why and all this shit, but seriously? fucker woke up high and was like "shit, i know how to end it" and somehow it went along with the meaning.
regardless the movie looks fuckin amazing, fuck the device.
