Mr.p had a bit of a closet clearout recently. I packed off most of the stuff to the charity shop, but he had two pairs of Chuck Taylors that were still in pretty good shape, so I thought "oh let me stick them on eBay, see if anyone wants to give us a few quid for 'em". Figuring we'd be lucky if we got as much as a tenner out of it.
One pair has got bids up to 27 quid!!!
I mean, they're nice, but they're not THAT nice. But hey, whatever someone is willing to pay for them is what they're worth, right?

Ok so they are bid up to 29 now. The guy who (so far) has the winning bid just sent me an email to ask how much to post them to Rochester NY. I've told him I'll only send them internationally using recorded post, which for these would come to $19.50.So we're looking at a guy who is willing to pay over 70 bucks for used sneakers? Madness.

i remember years ago why dad bought 2 or 3 pairs of them because they were the only sneakers he liked and he heard the factory was going out of business.

I'm guessing they're american-made? those are hard to come by these days. there is a weird shoe store by my old house that sold american-made chucks for $30, but I think they ran out because the last time I got some I was all excited and then looked inside at the tag after I bought them to see "made in china".
tricky bastards! or bastard, I guess. there's the same grumpy-looking man working there every single day.

i guess i didn't say it in my post above, but i meant it....but basically the converse company got bought out or something. so the place that made them closed and this new company started making them wherever they are because they are such a popular style.
