I cannot believe an old lady just made me cry.:(

I'm so frusterated. We have this client and she's been loosing it for a few months now...it's gotten to the point where she calls the office several times a day demanding to speak to my boss. (no. we are not a medical office so, this is not something we deal with a lot.) I've been asked my boss to try to get her to talk with me, and get her to allow me to help her. But I can not. you can't reason with someone who is has lost their mind. She doesn't understand and begins trying to argue with me, and then i have to try to defuse the situation. but no matter what I do she ends up upset and at this point I'm upset and frusterated too. The last thing I want to do is upset her...but seems like no mater what approach I take, it ends up blowing up in my face.

:(

I'm totes bummed right now.

anyone here have experience working with the elderly who can give me some tips on how to handle her?

I fear that if she loosens it any more it may fall off and expose the wrinkly skin below!

If her name is Ingeborg, I know her.

Just let her vent, be patient, and try to be as honest, straightforward and courteous as possible. Remember, if she really has dementia, her attitude is not aimed at you, personally. Why can't your dithering boss handle it?!

Maybe the next time she calls, and you try to help her, you can ask if there is someone else on her end that you can speak with? A child or spouse might be more reasonable.

You should develop Alzheimer’s and forget about it/her.
