I might get a ticket cheap from a friend who's not going, but I don't know anybody that's going. well, I know a couple people volunteering I guess.
anyway, it's for tomorrow. radiohead, yeasayer, the black keys, CSS and a variety of other neat bands are playing.
I should go right? who cares if I have no friends? right? :/ I can't decide.

Does it involve camping?

yeah, if I want. I mean, I could set up a tent in my backyard I guess, not a fan of getting stabbed in the night though. otherwise I'll probably just ride my bike there, as it's about 5 miles from my house. 8 kilometers in your language.
blahhh, I should bring some dogs.

ummm, yeah .... why not?
I went on my road trip solo, I meet sooooo many people.
When I was in Portland Oregon they had a music festival at the time..... and I chilled with my dogs in the shade, and I probably meet a dozen cool people that day.
Do it!
yeah but youre probably some fat old trucker, you got other things to worry about

i end up going to concerts all the time on my own because my friends suck and won't pay to see a show ever. i only have 2 people who actually want to go to shows. one is a poor student who goes to school elsewhere, and the other works crazy shifts at work.
so just do it!~

Good call...using miles will definitely help your chances of making friends. Also if I were to vote I'd vote for both options...you should just go, you'll probably have fun but you'll still feel like a loser
i measure distances in stones
it's not a very effective system though because most stones are different in length, and sometimes i do it by width just to switch things up so i have to say things like "i live about 200-372 stones away, depending on the stones you use and how you lay them out"

I would definitely go alone if I lived in Chicago because there are bands that I'd like to see. I go to concerts alone fairly often because my friends don't have the same taste in music. I'll admit that a festival is a bit more difficult, because you feel kind of dorky walking around alone all day but if you want to see the bands and if you like talking to strangers when you're waiting for the stages to get set up it can be fun. I did a one day festival by myself three years ago because a ticket fell into my lap.

i think ill be by myself next weekend when we have this festival type thing here.
when they announced it, a bunch of my friends were all about it, but now i asked them and none of them have tickets. and the one who did by a ticket lives really far away and is having some other event instead of coming in for the show.

I was going to go to that festival too but alas, the only friend who was really pumped about going like I was is going to Santa Fe for two weeks. I'm kinda bummed.
Did you go to the Foo Fighters last week, jabumbo?

yeah, i decided last minute. i got a decent seat in the upper deck but moved myself down to that middle section after the opening acts so i was pretty close to the acoustic stage

I've been to the Lowlands festival on my own when I was 16. It was my 2nd time, the first time had sucked because my sister came along and ruined it, so she stayed at home. All my friends' parents thought they were too young to go, and there were tons of cool bands so I went there all alone. And it was awesome.
Ofcourse it's nice to have people to talk to/party with, but you're sure to meet plenty of people and you can go wherever you wanna go (I love that, because a lot of my friends want to see utter shite).
In 2 weeks I will go to my 9th Lowlands. I'm SO looking forward to it.
But how was Lollapalooza? Yeasayer any good live?
I'm gonna have to choose between them, Gogol Bordello and Jamie Lidell. They're all playing at exactly the same time, while they were the main 3 acts I wanted to see. :'( As I've seen GB and Jamie Lidell 3/4 times already I thought I'd just go see something new, but they better be good...

Somehow my buddy managed to get us near the main stage and it was quite frankly the worst thing he could've done because I went damn near deaf but I still loved it. That first band was fucking terrible. Holy shit.

caribou, I didn't end up going. :/
I hesitated too long, my friend sold the ticket to someone else. oh well. I was pretty hung over anyhow, laid around all day. I met some british boys in town to see it the night before though, the way they said "lollapalooza" was darling. they was from lundun.
I was supposed to meet up with them at another bar with some strangers a friend and I picked up, but then I forgot and left. oops.
