View Full Version : if you were publicly humiliated in the press, would you confront the "journalist"?

this group I'm in has gotten a fair amount of press in the last year, and now comes the backlash. a private email by one of the members was published in a local paper and basically makes us all look like a bunch of douchebag dorks, and is basically a thinly veiled insult on behalf of the article author who was formerly a supporter.
I know this kid, and he is a dick. and a date rapist.
anyway, he's basically a purveyor of "cool" in this town and I've hated him for years. he is friends with some of my friends, so it's kind of awkward. however, I want to email or talk to him about what he did, what his intent was, but I think maybe that just makes me lame. but I also think he needs to be called out for once.
what would you do?

hey guys, I'm just asking if you think I should contact the dude, or just let it go?
let's pretend I'm in the jonas brothers, and one of my brothers wrote an email to a writer saying, "hey, we're into super cool stuff, wanna be best friends?" and then the writer published it in a magazine, and then people were like, "ew, the jonas brothers are lame". if you were one of the jonas brothers, would you say something?

I'd honestly say to leave it alone. Water to a duck's back and all that... If you've got 12 people hatin', try to make it 14 because you must be doing something right.
I might be far away now... but I'm about to be a lot closer... Watch out, Detroit.

er...let it go?
Going by the Jonas brothers scenario, someone from your group emailed a writer and in doing so came across as a dork. It's not like the writer slagged you off unprovoked or anything.

i say go for it, but be careful how you go about confronting them, because they could publish that too XD

the writer seems like a complete tool for doing that.
the best thing would probably be to ignore him, id say he'd really like a reaction and it would be best not give him one.
alternatively a public humilation if possible is also good, if you could destroy him in front of peers?

No, I wouldn't confront him. I'd just start a rumour amongst every female in town about how you know this girl he was with, you can't say who but anyway she had been into him for a while and then they hooked up and it turned out that he has such a small dick that when they were doing it, the condom couldn't even stay on and it got lost up inside her and she was totally paranoid that he could have given her something or got her pregnant and thank god he didn't but jesus, can you imagine what a freakin' let down, that on top of the shitty sex with a practically microscopic weenie? No wonder he tries so hard to be Mr Cool, right?

I like the way half the people in here are saying "I'd definitely cut his balls off" etc even though we don't know anything about the journalist, the article or the group that she's in.
For all you lot know, she could be in a group that advocates the murdering of babies and the feeding of said dead babies to llamas.

my rule of thumb is,most people deserve to have their balls cut off.

no! I'm in the jonas brothers!
sorry this is so vague, I was just trying to gauge whether or not it's a loser thing to do to confront someone who made fun of you in public.
I decided not to write to him personally, only to respond in a silly and sarcastic manner to the author of a particularly mean-spirited comment on the online version of the article.
peachy, that would work if he were single, but he's not. he already found someone to love his tiny weiner and stupid face.

Acknowledging it would just fan the flames. Ignore it, not worth the trouble.

If someone "made fun of you in public," let it go. That's their right.
If someone somehow stole a person's e-mail and published it, that might be a case for prosecution.
If somebody published something as fact which wasn't, you could ask for a retraction or write a letter to the editor.
