Barack Obama says he's gonna go out and campaign in 57 states, he was just tired, you know, it's been such a long campaign, he's been so many places, he probably thinks there are 57 states. Well, I have here a printout from a website called the International Humanist and Ethical Union. And here is how the second paragraph of an article on that website begins. 'Every year from 1999 to 2005 the organization of the Islamic conference representing the 57 Islamic states presented a resolution to the United Nations commission on human rights called combating.' And the title of the piece here is, 'How the Islamic states dominate the UN human rights council,' and there are 57 of them.

Obama said he's going to campaign in 57 states, and it turns out that there are 57 Islamic states. There are 57 Islamic states. So did Obama just lose his bearings, or was this a more telling slip, ladies and gentlemen?

i a friend of my sister's dog groommer forwarded me this in their emails, please read and discuss

i don't know about you but i just couldn't vote for a ...i can't vote for obama for president

See I told you. That is totally proof of it right there.

Also, we should all stop using Heinz products, for this same reason.

Bob, this email message of yours, it is baffling, alarming, irrefutable and incontestable. All of my time and effort supporting Barack Obama has been nothing more than a hoax put upon me.

And now ms.peachy weighs in with the Heinz products? 57 States? 57 Varieties? Incidences of this nature are suspect and quite worthy of an email notification.

*DO NOT DELETE THAT EMAIL* Pass it on, print it, post it everywhere!

there are plenty of concrete political / policy issues that you can disagree with obama on if you need reasons not to vote for him..

do some real research

but if this conspiracy crap and email forwards is how U.S. citizens are picking out the next president [ one of if not the most important leaders in the world/during potentially one of the most crucial times in our history ] then i am ashamed to be a citizen....jeez this isn't pro wrestling!

p.s. did you get the free laptop yet from your last forward ?

Here is how the law will be laid down when Barack Obama wins after fixing the 2008 election.

- North Carolina will be split to include East Carolina and West Carolina
- North Dakota will split to honor the young actress Dakota Fanning
- Wisconsin now will split and have it's new neighbor Easconsin
- My home state Washington is slated to become "Obamaland"
- And Canada will become our 57th state, the largest United State.

Tricking the Canadians into becoming our 57th state (he seems so Canadian they love him and just comply as if? eh' why not!) will become one of his finer achievements, plus his diplomatic Sitar playing skills.

Would that mean Brett Lambert would finally have a valid opinion on American politics?

do you really not think that non-americans are allowed to have opinions about american politics? at first i thought you were just relieved that he couldn't vote, but you just said "valid opinion" so i don't understand. why does someone have to be from america to have an informed opinion about american politics?

Borders have nothing to do with the validity of one's opinions. Lord knows you have no valid opinion on anyone's politics, American or otherwise.

Every academic I've ever known has been sorely lacking in the common sense department, and you two seem to fit the mold perfectly.

Did I say DS was uninformed? NO
Did I say he wasn't allowed to have an opinion about American politics? NO
Did I ever say someone had to be from America to have an informed opinion about American politics? NO

What I said was his opinions about American politics aren't valid. That's because they don't matter, and that's because he doesn't get to vote. If Canada became the 57th state (LOL) and Lambert had the privilage of casting a vote, his opinion would then have meaning and thus have validity, Capice?

So it's meaningless how "informed" he may or may not be.

Yeah, but my invalid-opinion-having-self gets to vote, and you get to comment about my vote on a message board.
So who's the invalid one?

you used an ambiguous word, i don't see what lack of common sense has to do with anything. i just wasn't sure what you meant by "valid". no need to be patronizing about it. it could mean "effective" or it could mean "sound, logical". i took it to mean that you said he didn't know what he was talking about, or that his opinion doesn't matter (in a bigger way than just "you don't get to vote so shut up").

yeah sorry if I got snippy there.
Words on a screen can come across very different than intended by the author.
I don't like people putting words in my mouth that I didn't say or intend and that seems to be happening between we three lately and it's getting tiring having to explain everything down to it's simpliest terms.

Then you need to use better words than "invalid" the first time around. You seem to want to tell me my views are "irrelevant" since it means I cannot cast a ballot in the U.S. rather than I'm "uninformed" or not allowed to have views. "Invalid" implies that the person doesn't know what they're talking about.

OBJECTION

You may not have a problem with the things that were said about Hillary, McCain, and even Bush, but I do. Even though I may not agree with Bush I still believe there's a level of respect society owes the office, and any public official for that matter. I'm not OK saying things like "Hillary's an irrelevant Bitch" "Bush is mentally handicapped" and "McCain belongs in a wheel chair" publicly. It's wrong and if similar things were said about Obama I'd say they were wrong too.

i wasn't comparing it to luda's comments, i was comparing it to the general "lol bush is dumb because he speaks dumb" type comments that people make, which is what i thought you were referring to in your post, i didn't realize you were being so specific.

More likely than Canada becoming a 57th state, Brett could get the right to vote by *gasp* marrying an American and becoming a duel citizen.

I don't know if I could go through with it and deal with the guilt of knowing that I'm letting a foreign-born person have a valid say on our politics, though. :(

Yeah, why are people interested in his middle name for anywyay? It's not like we ever worried about any white Presidents' middle names? Why do people have to point out for that his name is Hussein? Shit's racist, yo.

Just off the top of my head...

George Walker Bush
William Jefferson Clinton
George Herbert Walker Bush
John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
John Quincy Adams
Richard Milhous Nixon
Lyndon B. Johnson
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Harry S. Truman
Warren G. Harding
Ulysses S. Grant

Yeah, I know.

But if Obama gets elected you know someone will make it a racial issue that his middle initial or name is being used, which would be total BS.

i guess so yeah. i think it all depends on the context. if someone says "barack hussein obama" it's probably fine. but if someone says "barack HUSSEIN obama!" (exclamation point and all) they're clearly making a point
