You guys ever find yourself liking bands that play certain types of music that you hate? Like, its the only band of that type of music you'll listen too?

I guess I don't like much hip-hop but I still like the Beastie Boys.

I don't really like the metal/mathcore genre of music, but I find myself going going on bouts on listening to Protest the Hero.

Anybody flying this ship?

I don't really like Porn Groove, but Rolf Harris' latest album "fuck me sideways, mate" is really growing on me.

Beastie Boys.

It's not that I despise rap or hip hop per se, I just hate what's become of it. Sort of like country music.

i love a lot of hip hop from the 80's but new hip hop is incredibly boring... what the fuck else can you do with it? seriously!? it's done! boring ZzZzZzzz

new country music is disgusting and hilarious at the same time.

yeah country music is a god damn mess. Its so far removed from its folk roots its absurd. Alt-country is where its at now.

"Mathcore (also known as technical metalcore, technical hardcore, progressive hardcore or progressive metalcore) is a polyrhythmic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyrhythm)[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathcore#cite_note-helium-0) and dissonant style of metalcore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalcore), recognized for a high level of technical musicianship. Both math rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Math_rock) and mathcore make use of polyrhythms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyrhythms) and unusual time signatures. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_signature#Complex_time_signatures)
Mathcore is an offshoot of math rock, which originated in the early 90s with bands such as Breadwinner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breadwinner_%28band%29) and Don Caballero (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Caballero).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathcore#cite_note-helium-0) Math rock would later mix with hardcore punk and heavy metal, hence the portmanteau (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portmanteau_word) name combines math rock with hardcore."

Slipknot is a band that I like though I hate their fans.

There I said it and won't edit it: Iowa is a great LP if you're pissed off at people in general

When I saw the title of the thread I was gonna say the same!
I saw him at Roskilde aaages ago, he had on really tight brown leather trousers and his bum looked really sexy in them!
I've got a picture proff somewhere... ;) :o

.

Yeah, its a total bullshit "genre". Its just an excuse for bands to show off how many scales they know.

I dunno, something about Protest the Hero grabs me. Most other bands of that nature are pure shit.

Dude, I seriously think you need to explore Jazz a little further before you give up on it altogether. The CTI/KUDU and Impulse catalogs have a lot of darker, heavier and more funk or latin-flavored shit. Funny you should mention Head Hunters, though. I just picked it up over the weekend, and it obviously rules. You should check out Mwandishi and Fat Albert Rotunda if you liked that album. It took me forever to get into jazz, but the fusion and modal shit got me into it and now I'm more or less addicted to it.

I don't really despise any genres in particular, but Fela Kuti is kinda getting me to give Afro-Beat a chance.
