the tax policy center (http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/), a non-partisan think tank, recently released an analysis damaging to both senators mccain and obama.
according to their analysis, obama's tax plan - which includes keeping some of the fiscally irresponsible bush tax cuts in place - would add 3.4 trillion to the national debt by 2018. bush's tax cuts expire in 2010, but if some of the provisions of his tax cuts are extended, they will increase the annual deficit by 100 billion a year.
meanwhile, for mccain it's worse. he wants to keep all of the bush tax cuts and add more, which would add 5 trillion to the national debt over the next ten years.
question: why is obama considering keeping some of the fiscally irresponsible bush tax cuts? so the $1,000 child tax credit, a reduction in the marriage penalty and a new 10 percent tax bracket will all be maintained? i know the dems usually cowtow with the republicans, and usually let them do what they want, but this is really dumb. could the dems at least grow one ball, and not align themselves with disastrous republican policies at least for once?
