I've worked really, really hard today, accomplished quite a bit, my kid has fallen asleep early, and I don't have to work tomorrow. So I am having a whiskey cocktail. I am 3/4 through it and I feel warm and happy and haven't got a fucking care in the world. Yesssss (y)

I am drinking this one (http://www.scotchwhisky.net/blended/bells_extra.htm) with this (http://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Bottlegreen-Ginger--Lemongrass-Presse/31693011?parentContainer=%7C1087%7C1314) as a mixer.

The label on the cordial said "fantastic as a mixer with whiskey" on it. I said to it 'Well I'll be the judge of that, thank you very much.'

You know what? It is FANTASTIC as a mixer with whiskey!

It's true a tall dram of Glennfiddich or Glenlivvet is as highly medicinal as it is spiritual...that warmth can't be beat,by any other liquor, not rye, brandy or cognac...especially after a day of physical labor and a bath, give us a splash...(y)

Scotch is the bomb. I'll drink near enough anything if I'm low on cash (apart from weak beer) but it's definitely my spirit of preference. Solace, warmth and relaxation all in a lovely tube of love. Seeing those magical shapes under the Christmas tree is always one of the best moments of the season. (y)

PS
Bourbon doesn't come close. Wild Turkey is semi-acceptable but for me it's gotta be the scotch.

Pour us one Peachy. It's just taken me an hour and a half to get Ava to sleep.
Peace at last! (y)

dawwh. *gifts peachy her WHISKY! whisky goddammit, you crazy american" ;)

i have to say i am getting more into the idea of whisky. it's a totally different drinking experience, having a nice, neat whisky. the warmth and the taste and the way you have to drink it are so unique.

i would really like a large glass right about now :/

I'm into scotch as well, but I do like the irish as well!
I'm usually into single malts, but they're usually best enjoyed with really small sips.
I really like Jameson, I can smell it miles away.
And my ex got me into Southern Comfort big time.

Now I only have Tullamore Dew as it was on special offer on the ferry.
I haven't gotten 10% of the things I was supposed to do today done, but I think I still deserve a drink now! :D

But you live in Scotland. I thought all you people did was drink whisky and eat haggis, with scotch eggs and Irn-Bru for dessert?

my preferred mixer with scotch is a couple of ice cubes!

no need to pollute it with that mess of a beverage (n)

Bottlegreen beverages (http://www.bottle-green.co.uk/) are no mess, I assure you, they is well posh innit.

I liked this so much yesterday, I am having another one today.:o

They say even an ice cube can be a major pollutant in scotch. They go through all that work to take out the inpurities, and then most people just drop them back in. Bottled water is a kinda safe bet around the conosur types. So maybe bottled water ice cubes.

Anyway http://www.glenmorangie.com/ is a great product.

ah, very true. i'm not an accomplished drinker enough so to drink it straight yet, so i need that ice to cut it a bit. and i don;t really sport bottled water, so im out of luck i guess

When mr.p and I went on a couple of distillery tours in Scotland a few years ago, they told us that scotch is not meant to be drunk entirely straight but with a splash of water- that other than at 'nosings' it wasn't meant to be drunk without the splash because the splash releases vital aromas that enhance the taste, and if you don't 'splash' you miss part of the experience. They did however recommend using bottled spring water over tap water for splashing, since tap water tends to contain chlorine.

I just lost a couple of minute of my life reading this entire thread.
I don't even like scotch.
