Ok,
Not sure whos in charge of running the www.beastieboys.com website, and adam, adam, and mike im sure you could have some control of this.. but man! this site NEVER has any info updates and its always just old crap on here! how about you guys maybe spending a half hour a week a piece and getting on the site and maybe give the "loyal" a nugget or two about what the hell has been going on or what you guys are up to? in between the meditation and softball games and teasing your hair, im sure you guys can squeak a lil in just to keep us a lil more know about some shit. man i love you guys, but youre just not backing the ones who got you guys there in the first place! please, maybe just a lil tid-bit on here (meaning the webpage) every once in a while to keep your loyal minions happy.

Well I think it is common knowledge the boys ARE working on new material so and that it is due a 2009 release (summer time I guess and hopefully a tour to follow in the Autumn/Winter), so I am not sure what other info they could give us?
If you remember the new material drought after Hello Nasty then this is nothing!
I am hoping for a hiphop album with a rough edge to the sound, while I liked some of the tracks on TT5B I found the sound as a whole too clinical (I think Pro Tools production has a lot to answer for...), however I must stress this is purely my personal opinion and the great thing about the Beastie Boys sound is that there really is something for everyone.
If I could choose the sound for the upcoming album, it would be 55% Pauls Boutique, 20% Licensed to Ill, 15% Check Your Head/Ill Communication and 10% Hello Nasty/TT5B.
I want clever, amusing lyrics that tell stories and paint pictures...PB for me was lyrical heaven, I also want angry songs ala Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun/Sabotage/So What You Want...and great beats of course with deep ass bass!
Again, this is all personal opinion and I am sure many fans will want something different.
Maybe they could throw some curveballs out there in terms of different producers for the tracks?

At least one song will be slightly up-tempo hip-hop, with the music having been played completely live. It will sound like the Arctic Monkeys crossed with Run DMC. You have been fooled.

Who really knows for sure what the new album will sound like! Who'd have guessed the concept of TT5B? I did like TT5B, but for me it wasn't there best stuff, bit to machine like for my taste. If it sounds anything like IC or CHY I'll be more than pleased. I reckon cause of their age, and please don't jump on my case for saying that, doing straight up hip-hop is something I reckon they'll stay away from. It's been done and worked well before, no need to cover old ground. Rapping will always be part of who they are, after all, it wouldn't be Beastie otherwise! All I've heard it will more hands on with instruments and not so much HN/TT5B.

I heard beastieboys.com is not their official website anymore. This explains the lack of info.

i'm ok with not being updated on new stuff if there's nothing to tell but PLEASE take down that homepage invitation to film the gala events last fall. it just looks sad up there.
still, beyond some basic housekeeping, it's hard to expect too much from a site devoted to just one band. of the music sites & blogs i check from time to time, i tend to expect the least from band sites unless they are on tour or promoting a new release. all i ever check here is the boards because it's all that changes (and each time, like statler & waldorf, i wonder why i come here. ;))
as for music sites that change daily, i like pitchfork and brooklyn vegan and radio free chicago and kexp.org and . . . and yes, i do check okayplayer . . . oh and i do like friend-of-the-beastie's ian roger's site fistfulayen. he embeds music right into his posts & will have you arguing about digital rights management at your next cocktail party.
go forth!! :D

I hear what you're saying about updating the site. Not sure why it's been left like this for so long. Sure BB are busy doing the new album, and I for one wouldn't want them to take time out to jazz this site up, but surely someone in admin can throw something new on here. (y)

I (like Adam Yauch), prefer Final Cut over Avid.

the beastie boys dont owe us anything; least of all a weekly updated website, IMO. if there's news they'll post it. if there's nothing going on theres nothing going on. keep an eye on mic-to-mic. they're current and thorough. problem solved. (y)
