That man is the backbone of the democratic party

John McCain and lettuce picking? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWOZKeOauNI&eurl=http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x175563)

Way to go, Kucinich! I hated the '04 DNC because I was sick and tired of them being afraid to go after Bush when that's what they should have done the most. It's about time they start drilling the idea that Republicans don't know what the hell they're doing when it comes to the economy (and they actually admit it, in McCain's case) and everything else.

Dennis the Menace strikes!:D

All I can say to that video is wow. He really delivered the crap out of that speech. It's a shame that he dropped out of the race so early. If we had a real chance to see that kind of passion (the likes of which I have not seen in an American politician in a single speech ever) while he was campaigning, it would have been interesting.

My one problem with this speech was his 'Cold War' reference. Now, I recognize that the relationship between America and Russia is currently a little salty because of the skirmish in South Ossetia but the Cold War began under VERY different circumstances and I believe this to be a rather large stretch.

Other than that tiny little thing, the speech certainly had me fired up. And I'm a Canadian.

words only go so far.
there's some speculation that he was paid to drop out.

That was a great speech Kucinich gave. It's too bad Democrats in general don't have balls that are comparable to Kucinich's balls. Aw jeez, now I got a terrible mental image in my head.

Kucinich doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would go for that kind of shit. He strikes me as not being the typical kind of politician and is strong in his convictions. Honestly, more than anything, I think that he just didn't have a shot at it, realized it, and dropped out.

Not only that, who the hell would pay for him to drop out, and why? I mean, he's a representative and holds some power, but not enough to make anyone afraid of him.

Is everyone going to ignore the stupid Cold War comment?

no he doesn't seem like it ... and i always hope for the best.
i'm just saying that all considered, and from where i'm coming from, it looks that way to me.

his message would have went a lot farther if he was still running.
do you think he had a chance? maybe not in today's sham media drenched propaganda and voting economy, but he would have faired well.

i think it should have been more important for him to be president than make nice speeches at the dnc with obama and biden as the media's, i mean dems choice.

i mean hell, nader's still running and he'll probably get my vote. that's when a little something gets done. i think all considered nader would turn out to interest many of you despite what the mock media suggests in the white house's propagated news. he's been making speeches like that since the day.

To be honest I don't know much about it, but I think that with the way things have been going and the pipeline geopolitics, it's not a far cry.

it wasn't stupid at all. putin's russia is currently trying to bully it's neighbours, whether it's georgia or the ukraine, to bend to their will. there is a growing concern that russia might even invade the ukraine, to seek control over regions that are dominated by russian-speaking people.

kucinich's remark though was aimed directly at bush and the neo-con's goal of having some unnecessary, lame ass missile defence shield system over europe, with the systems based in europe and eastern europe. poland (http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2008/08/20/us-poland-missileshield.html?ref=rss) has already signed on, which is making russia extremely insecure and uncomfortable. the missile shield is completely unnecessary and total b.s. it isn't accomplishing anything except alienating russia, and fanning the flames of a new arms race.

If you seriously think the world is headed towards another Cold War the exact same way it had one from 1945 to 1992, you obviously don't know your history very well.

You've got a point with the insecurity of Russia but that's about it. If a Cold War started because of that every time a superpower was insecure about treaties and defense systems, we've been in a state of Cold War for a long long time (before the turn of the century in 1900!) and we will never get out of it because of the two global wars and NATO, etc.

It was stupid of him to draw on an issue that pales in comparison to the conditions of 1945. That's my problem with his reference. Otherwise I'm just as happy with this speech as the rest of you smart-asses.

i don't seriously think or believe that the world is headed towards another cold war. i didn't say that. the key to this is avoiding another arms race, which kucinich is gravely concerned about, hence the cold war comparison. no one wants another arms race, except bush and his neo-con warmongering maniac friends. obviously, the current russian state pales in comparison to the previous might of the soviet union, but a new arms race is something to be concerned about. so yeah, i see your point, but at the same time i think kucinich was going for the ol' emphasis.
