The local news stations have been after me since they found out about the group I belong to, Democrats Abroad. The Edmonton Journal and CTV has been knockin' down my door for interviews about my perspective on the election, why I like Obama, what our group hopes to achieve in Canada, etc. I was on the 6:00 local news today! And then tomorrow I'm getting interviewed by CBC post-Obama speech!
I'd put this in political discussion, but they wouldn't care. Hell, I doubt you do either, but dammit, it's exciting. It's like I'm a celebrity for just being an American who cares about politics. (y)
that's amazing, congrats (y)
let us know when you'll be on, and if it's either going to be newsworld or the main network, i suspect it'll be newsworld.

Good for you!
Try to fool all the Canadians into thinking that Americans are thoughtful and articulate, okay?

I've been on CTV myself a few times but not for anything nearly as cool as this. Maybe the clip will be featured on their website. Find out!

I always felt I was discussing politics with celebrities of some sort and now my suspicions have been confirmed. Fame hopefully followed fortune is now yours.
Cheers!

cool! YOUTUBE! we wanna see!
totally a different and less prestigious arena but my boyfriend at the time won tickets to the queen's golden jubilee at buckingham palace and we were interviewed by bbc breakfast news LIVE (where i proclaimed by hatred for camping on national tv because of an unscripted question). we were recognised a couple of times in the hotel and at the science museum later on in the day - i wouldn't have thought that people would remember talking heads on tv, but they do! wear shades, and be like "no pictures, no pictures".

It's funny, the one main clip they took of me was when I was taking a jab at Kerry. I figured they'd do as much.
Either way:

I'm surprised my voice actually sounded okay, I'm getting over bronchitus and sound rather mannish.
And to answer your question, Eric, we get people involved in voting abroad. A lot of Canadians with duel citizenship don't even think they're eligible to vote. They may have one American parent, or they may have been born there and immediately brought over the border and they figure since they're not a "resident" of the US, they're not eligible to vote. We're getting the word out that if you have your US citizenship, you're more than able to register abroad, and we give them the information about doing so and sign them up.

I've sold myself to advertising...
Had my first extras job yesterday, was a photographing journalist when Santa had a big announcement.
In a couple of weeks I'm gonna do something for a Finnish medicine company.
Don't know yet what it's gonna be, I ain't gonna do it if I don't agree with the product.
Besides the pay isn't that good comparing the amount of hours it's supposed to take...

Yup, that's how it's supposed to be pronounced. But when my family moved here, the people at Ellis Island were like "keh-toh? wtf? Let's make you key-toe, it's easier to understand here and sounds more American, anyways," and so it changed.
Thanks for the kind words, peoples. I was actually pretty nervous they'd edit it into one of those "sweet, sweet, sw-sw-sw-sw-sweet can" clips, so I'm pretty glad they didn't. (y)

awesome!
did they make you pretend to walk back and forth casually until they got the right shot? heh.
they changed my family's finnish names to swedish ones when they came over. dudes were all, "pet-a-what? fuck you, you're peterson". "hilla-hell no! you're hillstrom now" blam!

Around the 5:20 mark. I was pretty drunk here, so I'm surprised I came off semi-coherent. I was also interviewed by CBC and CTV! Today was fun. :)

You didn't seem drunk at all, a little excited maybe, but not drunk. Public speaking seems to come quite naturally to you (y)

I was on TV once, when i was about 6 yrs old on an afternoons kids show. Every day they picked a kid out of the audience and gave them tickets to magic mountain and packets of twisties and cans of coke.
Well it was my day. They had their little puppet duck who was called Winky Dink pick out my name, I jumped out of my mothers lap and ran down from the audience, and tripped halfway down and stacked it big time and split my face open.
And my life has kinda gone downhill from there, really
