need help !

i'm having a hard time choosing a turntable i want....but i've found two that im looking at right now..

Go the numarks.

The gemini's have a straight arm with no offset for the cartridge, which means the needle will be dragging along the grooves at the wrong angle and gouging out the wax and ruining your records. I'm sure they come with conical/spherical styli, but they will still cause excessive record wear.

Also having your stylus not on a correct offset like the numark will make the music sound sheeeeit.

So to sum up - Gemini= Damaged records, shit sound
Numark= no damaged records, better sound.

Make sure you also set up the tonearm and weight it correctly or you will be also damaging your records. Tonearm too light - means the needle will be bouncing along the groove and fucking your records. Tonearm too heavy - means you will also be fucking your records.(but not as badly than if it was too light).

I'm a bit of a turntable nut. Bout to go out and spend another $6500 on a new one.

yeah, i would have looked for technics, they usually aren't pretty. btu they get the job done better.

I don't think it matters at this stage that they are belt drives.

In a couple of years if she is still serious about mixing/djing she can piff those decks off on ebay and pick up some 1200's.

or even upgrade the numarks to the TTXUSB. that's what i learned on and prefer now. the technics are great too, but i like the numarks better. that's probably b/c i learned on them.

I have some 1200's that were given to me after the bar I worked at switched over to cd's. No mixer though.

I said that my mate could have them but he's been a prick recently so they've been in my parents attic for 4 years now collecting dust.
