Gallup, Monday, Sept. 8th http://www.gallup.com/tag/Gallup%2bDaily.aspx
McCain 49% - Obama 44% = McCain +5%

Rasmussen Monday, Sept. 8th http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll
McCain 47% - Obama 46% = McCain +1%

ALSO, http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/election_2008_electoral_college_update
Obama's lead in the Electoral College down to 10 votes,
Obama 193 - McCain 183.

The Dems need to take a long, hard, look at themselves here and ask themselves why they can't stop the bleeding. The same thing happened in 2004, but this is worse because this election was served up to them on a silver platter.

I realize that right now there's a Post-Convention bounce for the GOP, but I've been feeling like Obama-mania has been wearing off for about a month or so now. If Obama isn't ahead by 5-7% by mid-to late September, once the RNC convention bounce has died down, than this election is going in a much different path than I expected it to go when this race first began....meaning I expected a democratic landslide.

Not that I'm saying this is full of shit but what is the margin of error for these polls? Anyway, these numbers at face value are not surprising given the post-RNC fallout. I suspect what you also suspect(ed) which is the Dems will rebound later in the month. Really, the first big debates will show us more.

Because the "hot chick" is on the ticket

The RNC was a snore....these polls have nothing to do with substance

I also remember the popular vote not coinciding with the electoral college, proving polls and votes can very well be insignificant (n)

those numbers are bullshit. a vast majority of americans are all gung ho about obama. most americans want change. they just dont know what that really means. quit being played.

A VAST Majority? Sure about that? If it were a vast majority, the polls would show it. Travel outside whatever little Obama leaning enclave you are in and you'll realize that there is not a VAST majority of people leaning either way in this election so heed your own advice and "quit being played". I guarantee that if you were Salt Lake City, Utah right now you'd think that there is no way that Obama could win.

If you can use them to sell beer, cars and anything else you can think of, why not use one to sell a President to the American people? Don't think Cindy isn't VERY accustomed to this tactic in her business.

The polls are very fluid, fickle and ever changing (http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/polltracker/pres_08/). The very best thing for America is that this does become a tight race, I would feel uncomfortable if either one of these two had huge lead.

This way "We the People" can hold these two "Mega-Candidates" feet to the fire.

Scrutinize and blog away, the more I hear the more I learn.

As much as Bush doesn't pay attention to the polls, what Americans are saying, or any information in print, these polls say a lot and the Dems should be scared. People think Obama is a sure thing. Not even. Kerry was destroyed by simpleton tactics and thinking just like Obama can be.

The M&M (Maverick & MILF) ticket is strong.

Ralph Steadman :

From over here the stakes look weird and unexpected. Many wanted Hillary and it looks like, in the most perverse way, that Palin woman could win for McCain- in spite of 8 years of the most hideous presidency in living memory- a stumbling economy and a divisive Foreign Policy for the dumbest and the silliest. I wouldn't have known two weeks ago that you could get to here from there. It is almost like a conjuror's Illusion and you look twice to see how the transformation took place. Beware the fickle!
