Something in a PM made me think. I came here in 1999 and it was already well established then, some of you must of been here 10 years now - who are you guys and did you all get naked at minton's and tpk's houses?

The story goes:

What originally started out as a simple bulletin page on a spaceship-designed website upon the release of the 1998 album Hello Nasty,
moved only a year later into being a part of the ArtistDirect / iMusic forum network. This change, as well as the rapid increase of internet
availability among fans, led to yet another switch-up in forum design and functionality. The InfoPop based message board was introduced
around the millennium and many frequenters of the forum like to see this as the birth of the message board, or the term BBMB for that matter,
as this was truly the first forum to have structure for subforums and threads and in general the design of a modern internet forum.
In 2003 the forum changed its structure to vBulletin, and wiped out all content including usernames.
This, of course, resulted in great fluster among some frequent users as their post count and join date no longer traveled with them.

What are you people talkin bout? This board has been around long before the internet or the Beastie Boys. Back in ancient Babylon shadrach meshach and abendigo prophecized the coming of this place and carved it on an archaic message board of sorts made of stone. They were persecuted for their beliefs and ultimately were thrown in a furnace for it.

i dont know the exact date when the first bulletin was introduced for the hello nasty site but it was probably around june 98. there used to be at least a few people still around who posted on that board.

The first BBMB was through letters from fans to fans. But the delay to post and reply was a huge problem so they've decided to create an internet MB. Thank God!

I got Hello Nasty a few months late, but whenever I went to play it on my computer (my only CD Player) it would take over my computer and invite me to go to the beastie boys website whereupon I did gaze upon the old message boards and the strange denizens there who seemed to have very little to do with the Beastie Boys. A couple years later (when I started playing my CD a lot again) I checked in again there was some "BuddyHead" thing full of rude people. That this particular detail is not widely known is the source of most of the confusion around these here parts.

No ... It was a private board someone built before music artists starting having message boards on their sites.
It functioned differently than this site, it was the beginning of the internets so it wasn't that great.

When this site introduced a message board, they closed the other board and everyone came here.

I've been posting here since 1998 under assorted aliases. I think in the (fuck?) 10(?) years this place has been here (sorta....the green board was a different animal) I talked about the Beastie Boys a total of about 12 posts. The rest was about how much I hate Bicycle Riders, how much I drank the night before/ how hungover I was, how much "x" or "y" band/boardmember was gay, or posting pictures of sweet shits. Or about Tron.
