This is unbelievable and sick and disgusting and an outrage. Product Standards are so fucking low they let babies get poisoned!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7620253.stm

More than 6,200 babies have fallen ill after drinking formula milk made from contaminated powder, Chinese Health Minister Chen Zhu has said.

The figure is five times higher than previously announced.

Mr Chen said a third baby had now died - with the latest fatality occurring in the Zhejiang province of eastern China.

How much of this milk powder was exported to be used in other products?

When will the people of China say enough and put an end to their government and other nations (U.S. included) exploits

Ever since the paint on the childrens toy scare I have tried to be conscious of what I buy from China. It is nearly impossible to conduct a normal day without buying SOMETHING from china. The scariest is that I have found out the nearly all of the fish at my local upscale grocery store was from CHINA! Fish from China?! Candy, dog toys, car parts, that fucking Hanna Montana (she might as well be sponsored by the red government over there) you name it.... China. It still boggles me that you can ship raw material from the USA to China, make the product and ship it back here for less than you could just build it here. WTF?

It is baffling, but the reason is exactly why these products are so fucking shitty...next to no environmental safety regulation.

Let us not forget that the quality control of the EPA and FDA have also been sacrificed for the sake of free market capitalism. I wish we could avoid Chinese products but they are now a plague on our way of living (and the Chinese way of living).

This is the tip of the iceberg...China sacrificed productivity for the Olympics, I am guessing that all those factories and workers are working double to triple time to make up for loss and will be taking shortcuts (using cheap and harmful chemicals) taken and the increased pollution will be devastating

For how much China brags about work ethic and production. I'd say they can have it. They just seem like such a cluster fuck.

This chemical in the formula is very very sad. :(

I just can't get my head around the fact that someone, somewhere along the line made the conscious decision to poison babies in order to make money.

I don't think its something any other developing nation wouldn't of done at some point but has got lucky that they've avoided it or covered it up.

Remember Nestle are a Swiss company and we don't call the Swiss fucks and aim any anti-race insults towards them and they've probably killed many more babies.

Capitalism has caused it and they've inherited it from the UK and USA - no regard to any1 but share holders.

The count is now approximately 13,000 babies hospitalized as of sunday, 40,000 total !?!?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/chinafoodsafetychild

China said nearly 13,000 children were in hospital Sunday after drinking toxic milk powder in a dramatic escalation of Beijing's latest safety scandal.

As the World Health Organization questioned Beijing's handling of the crisis, premier Wen Jiabao appeared on state television promising to head off further incidents.

Is this just an extension of China's population control initiatives? Limiting people to one baby was not enough to limit the growth of an overburdened population, let's jet poison a few thousand.

Recalls in the U.S. due to possible melamine contamination

http://www.medpagetoday.com/PublicHealthPolicy/PublicHealth/tb/11079

ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 26 -- The FDA said today that seven instant coffee and tea products sold in the United States are being recalled by King Car Food Industrial because of possible contamination with melamine.

The products, all sold under the "Mr. Brown" label, are made by Shandong Duqing, a Chinese manufacturer.

The recalled products are:

* Mr. Brown Mandheling Blend Instant Coffee (3-in-1)
* Mr. Brown Arabica Instant Coffee (3-in-1)
* Mr. Brown Blue Mountain Blend Instant Coffee (3-in-1)
* Mr. Brown Caramel Macchiato Instant Coffee (3-in-1)
* Mr. Brown French Vanilla Instant Coffee (3-in-1)
* Mr. Brown Mandheling Blend Instant Coffee (2-in-1
* Mr. Brown Milk Tea (3-in-1)

This is how it works, chemicals are produced in one place, they are sent to another to be mixed with other chemicals and then sent to another place to be added to another product and then sent to another place to be packaged and then sent to another place to be stamped with "Distributed in the U.S."

Labels should list all the countries food products are conglomerated

Melamine adulterated candy found in Connecticut.

This poison was purposely put into these foods, this is not an accident. Every year it is something new from china - toothpaste, pet foods, mattresses, toys...it is getting out of hand.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Department of Consumer Protection warned consumers Wednesday not to eat "White Rabbit Creamy Candy," imported from China and distributed by Queensway Foods Company Inc. of Burlingame, Calif.

The candy was found on several Connecticut store shelves the week of Sept. 29 by agency food safety inspectors and removed, agency Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr. said. Tests by the Connecticut Agriculture Experiment Station Laboratory have determined that the product contains melamine, he said.
