Hey citizens -
Tonight and tomorrow I'm going to the Street Scene buffet - the ones in purple I'm pretty sure about, but was wondering if any of you might reccomend some of the other acts?

i wish i could go. ive been waiting forever to beck to come within striking distance for a show
but michael franti is pretty cool. im also a fan of vampire weekend, the hives, and the whigs put on a good show as well. it really depends on what kind of stuff you want to check out though

Thanks for the feedback, Jabumbo. Suggestions are just what I want - always happy to open my mind and ears.
I've heard and heard that Michael Franti is a king but I've got a grudge since Sasquatch and the combo of the smiting hand of god wind (are you familiar with the Gorge venue? Often host to baseball size hail, scary strong winds, locusts - you name it)/crowd control combo that kept a good number of us trapped in front of Franti's stage for HOURS waiting for the show - instead of taking position in front of the Boys stage for their on time set.
Whew - that was a mouthful.
But it feels good to get get it off my chest.
Anyway, that experience led to the oft repeated "Fuck Michael Franti".
As to Beck - don't know where you are located, but if you go to his site, you can register for data on his frequent 'secret' shows (usually in Los Angeles - but who knows?)

Justice. i wish i could see them live, i hear they blow the place up! ask heiress. she saw them live and was all about it!
the other two are excellent hip hop acts. haven't heard about their live shows though.

Ahh - Justice -
I have had the pleasure of seeing them live twice - at Detour last October (ridiculously crowded, it was a solid sea of non-dancing stiffs, sorry to say)
and again at Coachella. That was the show. Sigh.
If I hadn't already seen 'em go great, they'd for certain be on my list for tonight.
You have any music on your menu for the weekend?

my guess is STS9 will have some wild light show to go along with their thumping beats. I saw them briefly a few years ago at a fest, and it was pretty crazy. The amount of energy they had was the only thing keeping me awake in the spitting rain....
i really hope i get to go to some of the upcoming shows here though. i have to miss keller williams next week for a wedding, so thats dissapointing. but i do have possible shows coming up with derek trucks, matisyahu, and a couple other shows i might try and hit up as well.

i live in a small town where we mostly have local music. i have to drive 4 hours to Washington DC to see decent bigger bands. i'm actually DJing this weekend but next week i'm traveling to see Cut Copy and The Presets. i'm pretty excited about that.

You're a dj? Use vinyl? Is Aceface the name you use?
Most important: how do you keep from dancing?

foals and the national are both really good live acts.
if you like spoon you'll probably enjoy the national. foals are a fairly exciting live proposition on a small stage. i wouldnt watch them on a big stage though.

Thanks, Mr!
The Hives always put on a good show. Devotchka, too. Cat Power and Tokyo Police Club are alright, too, but not necessary.
I really don't like Vampire Weekend that much. Their music is kind of boring and bland. I don't really like bands that wear their influences so proudly. Plus, they have a privileged, we're-better-than-you attitude. It just rubs me the wrong way.
