I just saw that on the news(n)

Why can't these nutcases just shoot themselves instead of causing so much grief to the victims relations and friends?

I couldn't help but think that it would have been front page news over here in the UK if that had been in the states.

It's a really sad story.

Its front page here to - but only happened today so it'll be tomorrows paper news. I remember the one last year and didn't they have one a few years back before that.

I haven't a clue if guns are legal in Finland but if they are its another case to get rid of them. I really think we should be beyond needing guns to protect ourselves or fight crime these days. Crime is going down, laws are in place, a part from a few nutters all crooks are in power and are able to buy themselves out of the law.

Tis sad!

edit: yeah they are legal

Sorry I meant it in the order it's being played on the radio news after the usual credit crunch malarky.

I'm in Leeds btw.

Not seen telly (not have one) and I don't listen to radio. I suppose, seeing it on the front page of the guardian site doesn't say much cus most things are linked from there anyway.

'In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
while they were shooting some people inside the school'

(that wasn't meant in poor taste, it just popped in my head)

"I looked through the window and he immediately shot at me. Then I called the emergency number. Thank God I was not hit, he fired at me but I was running zigzag. I ran for my life."

smart guy. not many think to do this.

That's what they teach in the army in Finland.
You know, the army is obligatory to all the males in Finland who've turned 18 (unless you're nuts, gay, colourblind
(if I remember right) or handicapped).
There they teach you to shoot...

That's crazy. I never think of shit like that happening in Scandinavia. :(

That's actually a fairly common tactic taught in the military...

I heard on the news that Finland is third in the world in guns per capita or something like that. Only America and Yemen have more.
