Are you for it or against it?

Regardless if you are a Republican/Democrat/Independent voter.

I think its complete bullshit, and I hope it never gets passed. My two cents.

I've been all over the map on this and reading like a mofo, the very fact that the people of the United States currently have leverage over the 400 richest people on earth is amazing and scary. I wish to fuck we could force healthcare or some other bargaining chip on the table right now.

That said, doing nothing will cause a collapse that is going to cause a calamity beyond anything yours, mine or even the richest people on earth can wrap their minds around.

Nothing happens without credit. We are currently a credit society, not a cash and spend society. 90% of everything happening in your town will come to a stop when the banks get no credit, have no credit and want your debt paid up. NOW!

Something HAS to be done. No Doubt, but not necessarily by the government, and certainly not by the taxpayers. This plan sucks rocks and it is not even a sure thing. I just can't believe that we have NO time to discuss this and come up with a better plan. It's just being crammed down our throats. I hope every single Senator and Congressperson gets voted out of office if they decide to go against the overwhelming majority of the American people who are opposed to this plan. There is no accountability any more.

Very well put. These weekly crisis and emergency contingencies the Bush administration has been pursuing the past eight years seem awfully suspicious. Perhaps Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shock_Doctrine:_The_Rise_of_Disaster_Capitalis m) is correct.

How do so many people with above average intelligence not do their job? Are we to believe that something became more important than protecting our own financial institutions? I say pass a bill with prosecution being in the very first sentence and let's put these crooks in prison. Just like the blue collar criminals. If it ends up imprisoning the elected officials who allowed de-regulation to corrupt our lending practices so be it.

Send a fucking message America. If your going to get elected be prepared to be held accountable.

I know that something has to be done, but I don't agree with giving executives golden parachutes. all the people who made their money off of manipulating the system and giving out high risk loans should be punished. I honestly think that if the whole economy crashed that it would recover. I'm in no position to say that's what should be done though, especially because I'm in the business of selling luxury items. I could be a laborer and a farmer if it came down to a depression though. a handywoman maybe.

I think it's too late to do nothing. I believe in a free market, but there hasn't ever really been a free market. I think that the regulations and safetys put in place are partly responsible for the problems we have today. fannie and freddie probably never would have taken such high risks on loans and mortgages if they weren't guaranteed by the government.

at this point if there was no government bailout, I feel like foreign companies and banks would come in and take over. we owe the world so much money now, I don't know that it would make too much difference.

ugh, I just wish people could be honest and good and not greedy and that economists who know much more than me could just take hold of this whole thing and fix it!

Nothing exists without credit?

well, what happened before we had credit in our modern capitolistic system?

we need to reorganize and create local currencies, local economies and rebuild our communities towards sustainable, permacultural means.

We are made to think that we need wall street. that we need big corporations. that our system that is in place is the best, only system and that we are stuck with it. we are not, we do not, and we need change. why? because our system is totally fucking broken, regardless of the bailout. wake the fuck up

Hey! There's one guy right now who's gaining momentum on the presidential run who used to be a community organizer. I forget his name, I'll look into it and bring it back to ya.
