I'm going with:
-drink every time Palin repeats herself after a redirect, and can't go off script.

One person I'm sure cringes every time he hears McCain or Palin say maverick would be the original "Maverick" James Garner. Garner got his big break playing the role of professional gambler Bret Maverick in the comedy Western series Maverick from 1957 to 1960.

The reason James Garner cringes is because his politics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Garner#Politics) are 180 degrees out from McCain and WTF, he is the original Maverick.

Well, my brother is named James and "The Rockford Files" were pretty big around this time, too.
