my dad's a felon, so he can't vote, but my mom is halfway on the obama train even though she lives in a super conservative part of AZ. she says if palin wasn't on the ticket, it'd be a harder choice. she and her husband say palin's too busy acting like a "smart alec" to talk about anything real. ha. we also talked about the Weathermen for awhile, because she remembers when that shit went down. and basically said that as a christian, she believes that everyone should have a second chance to redeem themselves. then she started talking about her church and I stopped listening.

anyway, she watched the debate in this fancy little bar/lounge by her house and pretty much everyone in there was supporting mccain, except for the bartender and the server (big surprise). after the debate when she was leaving, some dudes at the bar said something rude/disparaging about obama and something about how if you live in arizona and you're not voting for mccain you should be shot. and my mom said loudly (she's a self-proclaimed loud-mouth) to the bartender, "oh goodness, I hope I get out of here okay since I'm not voting for mccain", and the bartender said "no problem, when you get to the door, just go left" *wink*

and then she punched those guys in the face. okay she didn't, but it'd have been so cute if she did.

My dad is a registered Independent but tends to lean Democrat in general. In the election, he is squarely behind Obama.

I had an interesting conversation with my stepfather recently. He's having a hard time imagining not voting Republican, as he's never voted anything but Republican. However, he's been through a lot in these past six or seven years, with losing his job, my mom having to go through cancer treatment which led to he and my mum having to declare bankruptcy, losing their home, etc. So I sense he is wavering, as he said to me "I never liked Clinton but I gotta admit, the 8 years under Clinton were a heck of a lot better for people around here (Michigan) than the Bush years have been."

my mother ALWAYS votes the abortion issue. it drives me CRAZY. they own a small business that would benefit greatly from Obama's new small business plan. i sent it to my mother in hopes of her seeing there are other issues more important, but she didn't budge.

i know my father... he won't vote Obama b/c he's black and that's a hard pill to swallow for me. it's my father's racism that has made me the anti-racist i am today.

my mom will more than likely vote republican, my dad has dementia and I honestly don't believe he is aware of much of this

I wish they'd for healthcare issues....mccain is going to pull the rug right from under their feet.

My parents always vote republican. It's interesting to watch them this year, they really don't like McCain. I think Obama's support of the FOCA and health care plans will keep them from hating McCain that much.

My parents always vote Democrat. My mom has always been active in politics and her first election she volunteered for McGovern. She's the one who got me interested in actually becoming active in politics, and I've been volunteering for voter registration and working at the Democratic headquarters since 2004 now. She's been helping out in North Carolina and going door to door in poorer areas to get the vote out. I really respect her for that.

My dad's a self-proclaimed atheist and absolutely hates Bush. He also hates Pelosi and this Democratic congress because they haven't ended the war. He absolutely doesn't agree with Obama on the fact that he's going to relocate troops to Afghanistan (he just wants them out completely), but he thinks McCain and Palin are douche nozzles. Especially since Palin rejects evolution and all that other crazy bullshit.

Our Thanksgiving dinners consist of bitching about politics together, rather than getting in yelling matches against each other. I always thought that was nice. :o

My dad, a firefighter who lives in rural Indiana, usually always votes republican. Not too much of a stretch. (though the county he lives in is expected to go to Obama) Hes the kind of guy that still says Bush was just doing his job. My mom, a major in the army, lives on a military base in VA, die hard republican, Loves McCain, hates Obama.
