i'm thinking that for the first time the beasties will record a record without the silly rhymes. i think they will just be a lot more mature. not sure if it will be political, but i bet there will be more of that. those guys just always do what they are feeling and they ususally don't repeat themselves, so i bet they aren't feeling 20 anymore. just seems natural that we will get some different kind of lyrics this time around.

that is, IF they put out another record. they have been away for a while and it doesn't really seem like the public is really thinking about them....they will have to figure out a new way to market themselves it seems like since they have dropped out of the public eye quite a bit.

i dont think they care about that. theyve done there thing. been the biggest thing on the block. i dont think thats what drives them anymore.

its like bob dylan still putting on music. hes not doing it to be the biggest thing in the biz anymore. he does it because hes a musician and he likes it.

I'd bet my two goats that there will be silly rhymes on the next album. Just check the current TV thread where Yauch talks about one of Mike's shitty rhymes.

I am curious to see how political the album is considering the presidential election will be over and Bush will be tending to his goats on the ranch.

that's a pretty bold prediction, beastmaster, considering the year you've been away since your last guarantee that the Mix Up would NOT be an instrumental album.

but alas, they have been in the studio, according to many interviews with Adam Yauch, who has been far from "the public eye" in the last year.

I predict coffee, cheese, and feces will make the next album...

ha!
no doubt i blew that prediction....i can't even remember what i was thinking at the time but i was dead wrong.

you know what we have never seen from the beasties....we have never seen a FIRST single where they play their instruments in the video.

i'd love to see a pass the mic type song where they are all playing instruments and rapping at the same time...get mike d a headset and let him rap while playing drums like his boy don henley...
i don't think a lot of kids even know the beasties can play instruments.

I'll predict the Mets, noodles, and poodles...

My predictions include the loch ness monster, teriyaki, huggies, and 21 jump street.

On a sidenote: I know its an impossibility, but while i recognize that the beasties have kept themselves particularly removed from guest production spots (outside of some choice cats to haul remix duty), i just can't help but wonder how cool it would be to hear the beasties collaborate with a slew of legendary producers from the nineties. I mean hearing them kick it over a DJ Premier or RZA or Pete Rock or Dre beat would just be bananas, I feel. And not just like a remix situation, but a collaboration in the truest sense. Of all the ill ideas and experimentation they've successfully executed over the years, it seems one of the only things they haven't done is leave production duty to another and focus solely on lyrics.

Their production is fucking bonkers though. No doubt.

I couldn't stand the idea of them being produced by Dre, Pete Rock or RZA. Preem kind of fits.

It would be great if the first single was hardcore, but not like a 'Nervous Assistant', more of a lengthy track with change-ups. Almost like 'I against I' I spose...For some reason I can't get that feeling out of my head, but I've been crazy wrong in the past.

Point is, people always wonder why I'm a fan, apparently because of the last two albums. It makes no difference to me, but it would be pleasant to impress the skeptics and blow dry the show panel.

Well, when the Beasties produced their own rap record, we got a bunch of computerized beats. I don't really want to hear more of that on their new album. I hope they change things up a bit this time around. Bring some of those funky samples back, or something new altogether. Hearing those To The 5 Boroughs beats made me yearn for the days of Mario C. (although "Ch-Check It Out", "Right Right Now Now", "Triple Trouble" and "An Open Letter To NYC" were nice, I'll give 'em that much).

Maybe the weaker moments on the last two were alarming to people for their lack of common sense, something that musically the B-Boys always had. I hope that when Yauch says they're coming up with some "retarded shit" that they're fired up.

I never believed that they would just fizzle out creatively, but it must be a right bastard trying to do justice to what fans perceive as a legacy and what the band just perceive as fun. If somebody said "Just try to make a debut album, what you think reflects everything the band can do now", and they listened, shit would be off the toilet chain.

Writing is the big one for me. Toilet humour is great and all as an aside, but it gets old quick. 09 should definitely be an interesting year. Anybody hoping for a double album?

Yeah....no.

I pretty much disagree with everything you posted.

Thanks.
