I think these are really cool ideas for a get together…basically the premise is everyone brings or prepares a favourite dish of a relative who has passed…get together have some wine and if they care to everyone speaks about the dish,the relative and how they relate…it’s a celebration really…this year I’m gonna hold one at my place on Nov 1st (traditional Mexican date) in Thailand it was called “Pchum Ben” and happens at the end of Sept…what would you bring and in honor of whom?
I’m doing mussels in marinara cause that was what my granpa would order everytime we went out for dinner…and he would eat it with his hands...he’d pull the flesh out of one break the shell in half and use it as scoop to pick up the sauce...and in the other hand he’s have a wedge of bread or a glass of red,that he’s also add to the marinara laughing,eating,storytelling,singing,teasing my grandma,tickling the server,holding court…he was the man…:cool:
