Although there's no chance of me seeing a show, it's always good news when they get on the road while writing an album. Looks like a different type of line-up to those they typically play with?

Hmmm...Millie Walk Kay. Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers began visiting here in the late 16th century. It was originally an Algonquin term meaning the good land. I think one of the most interesting things about Milwaukee is that it's the only American city to elect three Socialist mayors.

just got the newsletter announcement.
definitely swing states. possibly a few more shows to be announced...
my fellow americans,
we are going to do a few shows in hopes that we can remind people to vote. this election is too important, too much is at stake to stay at home. we hope that you can come out, have a nice night, dance, sing, get your freak on, and then wake up the next morning and get everyone that you possibly can to get out and vote. if they have early voting in your state then ask people to vote early, lets get everyone we can out there on election day.
we are very excited about obama. hope you all feel the same.
see you shortly,

Beastie Boys Want To Fight For Your Right To Vote
Published by Gil Kaufman on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 2:40 pm.
Bruce has done it. Jay-Z and John Legend have done it. Now, it’s the Beastie Boys‘ turn to hit the road for some election-year shows in battleground states. The veteran hip-hop trio have announced Get Out & Vote ‘08, a tour which will drop into Virginia (October 28), Minnesota (November 1) and Milwaukee (November 2) with a gang of bold-faced support acts in tow.
The Richmond, Virginia, date at the Richmond Coliseum will find the Boys joined by Sheryl Crow, Jack Johnson, Norah Jones and Santogold; while Ben Harper and Tenacious D will share the stage in St. Paul, Minnesota at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium. The D and Harper will also be along in Milwaukee at the US Cellular Arena, in addition to a pair of folk icons, David Crosby and Graham Nash. According to a press release announcing the trek, more shows will be added soon.
Representatives of Rock the Vote will be distributing information at the gigs on local polling sites and early voting locations.

Let's hear it for Nevada. I, personally, am not sure if I will vote in this election ;). A beastie boys show in Nevada would definitely persuade me to do so.
Seriously though, they mention other dates will be announced shortly. If this is a vote drive thingamajig, then what other dates could possibly be announced? Monday the 3rd? I don't get it. Unless they go earlier. My birthday is 10-25. A show in Vegas that day would be the best birthday present ever.

As Election Day approaches, many musicians are stepping up efforts to rally voters to the polls come November 4. The latest to vote with their instruments? Hip-hop luminaries the Beastie Boys, staunch Obama supporters who just unveiled a handful of "Get Out and Vote" shows.
"This election is too important to stay at home," the rap trio told Billboard.com. "We hope that you can come out, have a nice night, dance, sing, get your freak on, and then wake up the next morning and get everyone that you possibly can to get out and vote."
The mini-tour -- set to hit three swing states decisive to the election -- kicks off October 28 in Richmond, VA, and is followed by shows in St. Paul, MN, and Milwaukee, WI, Nov. 1-2, respectively. The shows will also feature performances by such artists as Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Santogold, Ben Harper, and Tenacious D.
Beastie Boys' "Get Out and Vote" dates:
10/28, Richmond, VA (Richmond Coliseum) (w/ Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Jack Johnson, and Santogold)
11/1, St. Paul, MN (Roy Wilkins Auditorium) (w/ Ben Harper and Tenacious D)
11/2, Milwaukee, WI (U.S. Cellular Arena) (w/ Ben Harper, Crosby & Nash and Tenacious D)

I am puzzled and very bummed that it says there is a presale. I did not get the email announcing the concerts even though I've always gotten email before but it appears that it didn't mention a presale. Ticketmaster's site yesterday said there is a presale but not whose it is. If it's a hockey fan presale like they usually have at Xcel I will lose my mind.
