But McCain's health care proposal is seriously fucked up. I read up on it. I have decent health care coverage through my job. I don't want to be taxed on my health care. I sure don't want my employer to cut off my health care.
What the real reason why he's suggesting something so stupid? Is there a pay off to big pharma or something? I'd seriously like to know his mindset on this because it's just so stupid.

don't worry, if you don't like the one you've got now (or if your employer cuts it off) you can go across state lines and find a new one

Plus I realized that I only get a $2500 write off. I can't buy equivalent coverage to what I have for $2500. At least I would be better off than the poor bastards who only get a $5000 write off to buy coverage for their family of 5.
I've actually purchased solo coverage -- for me years ago, for my friend's kid recently, and for my mom recently. You have to be a complete moron to think that's the way to go. And I DEEPLY resent the fact that McCain has had taxpayer-funded health care for the last 30 years or so. We paid for his cancer treatments. I had to pay cash out of my own pocket for my mom's mammogram, even though she already had breast cancer in one breast.

yeah, from what I've read, mccain only says this about the tax break: "it's more than people have now". okay, but not really. he's also sticking to the $5000 figure, when it's only $2500 for individuals. I only pay $720 a year now for my health insurance, but that's mainly because I'm under 30 and my employer pays for the other half. my own boss can't even be covered under our plan because he's got diabetes. he pays thousands of dollars a year out of his own pocket to basically stay alive. but you know, it's his fault because he can't process sugar, he just shouldn't have been born that way...wait, that doesn't make sense. shit.

the market will correct him
Look I don't know what you're complaining about - only socialists and communists have a national healthcare system.
Seriously though, I really don't see any reason why any country in the western world would not have a national healthcare system which takes care of everyone. Whilst people here complain about waiting lists and substandard hygiene we get a pretty good deal. I've spent a week in hospital before I'd even paid any taxes and the NHS took care of both my parents when they had cancer. I probably wouldn't have a roof over my head if we'd have had to pay for that.
What is Obama's stance on healthcare? Is the thought of a healthcare for all unpopular? Why?
gotta agree with rirv - I find it insane that health care is not free all over the world.
Its kinda embarrassing in our human history that we don't look after every human being in the world when they get sick - no matter who they are - having only the richest survive is not natural selection, its some fucked up elitist crap where we don't give every1 a chance in life to survive...
I know we hate paying taxes but they are a good thing - they are all too often spent on bad things is the problem.
It boggles the mind that no presidential candidate stands up and says "I will cut spending here, here and here by x percent, very small tax increases for the highest earners and alacadabra we have a national health service."
Instead you hear "I WILL GIVE YOU $1000 DOLLARS IF YOU VOTE FOR ME."
Oversimplified and I have no idea of the scale of money needed, I know.

Its because a good chunk of Americans believe any form of socialism is bad and thats for pansy Europeans who pay much to much in taxes and have to wait weeks in line at the hospitals like they do in Canada. No its true! And why should everyone here have access to the same healthcare has everyone else so we can all complain about the samething? Oh, and if we did that, illegals would have free healthcare to. We wouldn't want that. Give us our $300-1000 checks and you get our vote.

its not any one single persons views on the healthcare system, or plan...its the entire health care system that is fucked up. from the corporate structure downward, science, politics, government and media are owned.
for example, NAMI (national alliance for the mentally ill) is a group of individuals which advocate the latest treatments and "medical breakthroughs" to families suffering from mental illness. its primary source of funding is throught the pharmeceutical industry.
and the FDA, AMA ETC. flouride is safe for me to consume in my drinking water? natural supplements cannot be considered remedy? aspartame and msg are safe for me? mercury as a carrier in my vaccinations? i cant smoke marijuana but i can take a synthetic THC pill?
you will not see any change in this system through any one individual. because the system itself is set up to take our money, deceive us and own us.

a friend of mine is being harrassed, followed, spyed upon and privacy invaded by the health department because he drinks raw milk and eats raw meat. he's the healthiest person i have ever met, cured himself from several intestinal disorders. they are threatening other members of the co-op which has a legal right to exist. why the fuck do they care? what right do they have to tell me what i can and cant eat?

Just to break it down for people who haven't heard the details yet...
wrong... wrong wrong wrong
his plan is to give a family , not individual, a $5,000 credit WHICH IS PAID DIRECTLY TO YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER (AKA if every citizen is generating this $5k for the insurance companies it's pork for the industry and will likely have little bearing on your actual health care costs.
I should also add that this would for the first time on our history cause your insurance benifits to be taxed by the federal government... Because it's called a tax CREDIT, credit always needs to be repaid. That means every doctor visit you'll be taxed on... if it's anything like how they currently tax my income (~20%) then that's gonna hurt.
Also by "allowing" us (gee thanks) to find a provider out of state that means the insurance companies will be free to move to states with laws and benifits that will be best for their business model, not our health.

THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT YOUR HEALTH
It could easily be said that most people don't care about their own health until something goes wrong. I mean with fast food giants on every corner always with full parking lots, and more and more drug abuse and drinking problems, you wonder just who does care about health anymore.
