i love em
they remind me of t. rex
sound nothing like t.rex
but still
they remind me of t. rex
What I like about them is that they've come out with an idea and stuck to it. The album isn't 100% good, maybe two or three duff tracks, but best songs are very, very good. Especially Electric Feel, probably one of my top three songs of the year.

I like them a lot. good soundtrack for driving in L.A. they're definitely not original, but I like they sound they have.
Are they trendy and hip?
If they are it's probably why people wouldn't like them - a reaction against hype.
I just remember hearing Electric Feel and thinking "yeah, I like this" so bought the album.
You're all phillistines you naysayers.

yeah, I think they're trendy and hip. I haven't bought the record, but I heard a lot of the songs on the radio and in my friend's car and liked them before I even knew what the band's name was. I had been hearing and reading about MGMT and how they were the hot new thing, but never really purposely looked them up to listen. I finally put two and two together and thought, "oh, they are pretty good, that's nice".

I saw them a couple of weeks ago under difficult circumstances (opening act). I had no idea who they were until later. I'm too old to be in their audience, but while I was watching them I thought to myself that they were better than most opening bands. Until the end when they did a song that's apparently called Kids. I was liking the guys in the band and then the band left the stage and two guys sang to prerecorded music. It was like bad karaoke. The young people in the audience seemed to enjoy it a lot but to me they were going out with a whimper after a fairly strong live set. Eh, no one cares what I think. Maybe they were doing Kids ironically. But it was still a poor closing song.

I really liked MGMT ............. until I saw them live at the kroq weenie roast in Irvine, Ca this year. I was hoping it was just a bad day for 'em. But god, quite possibly the worst, most unprofessional live show I've ever endured. It was a billion degrees outside so maybe their brains were melting?

i went to see them recently and they were pretty good. it was some ridiculous prog. like yes or someting. anyhoo. i was down the front cos the girl i was with is really short. everyone else down the front was like screaming twelve year old girls. it was like a take that show. i suppose blokey is a bit of a dreamboat.
anyhoo...i quite like their songs.

I hadn't heard of them until our DJ at our wedding played Kids and we asked who they were.
There are a couple rough songs on the album but Time to Pretend is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I'm seeing them live some time soon.
Bloody crap. Wishy, washy, floaty, fairy nonsense. The pill heads can keep it (n)
I thought Time To Pretend and Kids were both great, but as hard as I tried to like it I couldn't ignore that the rest of the album felt like filler.
The video for Time to Pretend was pretty dope too.

To me this band represents the success of Apple's 'get the only good song by a band' iTunes business model.

If my housemate plays Electric Feel one more time, I will snap the goddamn CD and smash it in someone's face.
I never really liked it to start with but when someone plays something constantly, it's really annoying. Really.

New album April 13.
Spot on.
Spot on with the spot on.
I actually never heard them. I was watching this terrible movie called Sex Drive on Showtime or something and I heard Time to Pretend and was like "aww shit son, this song is dope assfuck!" but fell asleep before the credits rolled to see who did the song.
Then one day I saw MGMT on someones files on soulseek, downloaded it without knowing anything about it except that someone told me they were good. Heard Time to Pretend on it and was all like "aww dope assfuck!, this is the shit son!" Then I listened to the rest of the album and was all like "aww shit son (sad face)".

Not a good early morning album. That Flash Delirium is pretty sick. I would still wait till around two, three PM before listening to that. It's growing on me.
