when i was there everywhere i went it was cash, cash, cash. it was so overwhelming that
i was asking a cab driver about it when his phone went off... and his ringtone was ring of fire.

I think hes kind of overrated. And also its annoying seeing 12 year old emo kids running around in Johnny Cash shirts they got at hot topic.

I think he was a pretty interesting character. Despite being a country icon, he still appealed to rock fans, and didn't make distinctions in his own opinions about genres. I read something in a Creem magazine compilation where he talked about how when he started his TV show he wanted a lot of rock and rollers to play it, and had to explain to the executives that those were just the people he felt comfortable with.
