I know many of you have pursued masters degrees. Did you guys have to apply for grant funding?

Alternatively, did any of you apply for research fellowships?

I wrote a proposal/application for a grant in a grant writing class. I didn't send it in though, it was just an assignment. all I know is you gotta follow all the rules and write it really well and there's some on the internet that you can find and that they are really tedious and annoying to write.

none of this is helpful. sorry. :/ I did alright in the class though!

i got a full scholarship for my masters, but i turned it down in the end. wasn't the right thing for me at the time. sort-of-maybe regret it now but hey ho, what can you do?

i worked very hard getting the detail right with my research proposal. i didn't just bung any old general broad shit down. they want to hear how the knowledge you want to pursue is unique. i talked a lot with the course director and the people who were giving me my references about how my dissertation could fit nicely with the course material (it was a taught masters so my research was just part of the degree, not the entirety) and how i was in the best university to do it with other staff members who were into x y and z yadda yadda yaddddda. i'm sure you know the jive.

i'm assuming you are doing a science-based further degree, yes? if so, you have a better chance than us folks doing arts shit. it's only now that i fully comprehend how lucky i was to get the funding and that maybe i should have taken it. after all it was only a year. but eh. your discipline stands a greater chance of having more money going its way, and while it is of course very competitive, i'm sure you've got a tonne of experience and lots of academics super happy to support your application. good luck.
