to DJ an hour radio show (actually turned out to be 50 minutes) at alumni weekend at my college. Totally worth it, loved it, even though it was a bit of a disaster. I spent all this time putting a list together of all the songs I wanted to play (but I realized now I could of just made a playlist or even burned a cd- but I didn't). I only got there half hour before I was supposed to go on and couldn't find ANYTHING I was looking for, so I just went all comfort food-y and grabbed a whole bunch of records I loved and threw 'em on. It had been 11 years, so it was all new-fangled and I was WAY out of practice, but I have a burned copy of it and listened to it on the way home and I must say- much better than I thought, so merely listenable not unlistenable is the finale verdict!

My playlist(and notes):
1 James Brown Live medley -mostly Got My Mojo Working cover- wanted to start with Get up off that thing, which this was supposed to contain but this was a good welcome back!
2 Toots & the Maytals "54-46(live)"- one of the few songs I wanted to play that made it on air!
3 Creedence "Down On The Corner" I wanted to play Los Lobo's version of Hotel California from "The Big Lebowski" Soundtrack but of course I couldn't find it so I decided to play Creedence as a Lebowski homage
4 The Beatles "Maxwells Silver Hammer" Totally screwed up the transition at the beggining of the song so it sounded like someone had pulled the needle across the record- also I meant to cue up "Oh Darling" but accidentially cued this up. whoops.
5 Janis "Try" Freakin love her voice
6 Joe Cocker "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" (live) an alltime fav
7 Bowie "Life on Mars" a request- the first I had ever taken- not my favorite Bowie song by a long shot- but I played about 3/4 of it until I couldn't take it anymore!
8 Chuck Berry "Havana Moon" such a weird berry song
9 The Stranglers "Golden Brown" and we have arrived at the second song I planned on playing that made it on the air. I have been obsessed with this song of late
10 Teenage Fanclub ft. De La Soul "Fallin" -hehehehehhehehe! I love that I played this!
11 Elvis Costello "What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding" Thought it was an appropiate song to end on, always want to foster thought through song whenever possible (along with rapid bootie shaking!)
Not the playlist I had wanted at all- but I got to play around with a lot of vinyl- that was way more fun ultimately than having a totally organized show. Thought I'd share as I know theres LOTS of hardcore music heads here. I will try to post a link to show- if I can. Maybe.
