View Full Version : I don't like cricket...
...I love it!
Go on India! From the little I saw of it, India played the aussie game and beat them at it. I know its only 1 nil tho.
Doesn't matter who the Aussies are playing in cricket, I always want the other team to win. I'm sure they feel the same way to us 'poms' ;-)
I don't dislike aussies, just like to see them beaten at sport!

Yeah we got caned in that game didn't we...
Cricket falls under the same category as F1 with me. Although I suppose it wouldn't be a bad spectacle/occasion if the suns out and the beers were flowing.
I just can't get excited over it.
Lord knows I've tried, my Grandad would love it if I was a Cricket fan but it just doesn't grab my attention.

...that's it!
PS: Adam, you should hang out with icy. He also loves these unusual (by unusual, read stupid) kinds of games (like rugby)

i love it when the aussies get smashed at cricket

i've always been intrigued by cricket as it looks like a really interesting and unique sport, i'd love to understand it and follow some leagues....also because it's not a popular or generic north american sport, and generally something that beer-guzzling sexist super jock fratboys wouldn't be interested in.

You should go to the MCG on Boxing Day, then.
I love cricket, my favorite game. And I love good cricket, so props to the Indian team. They played brilliantly. We don't perform under pressure which is one of the reasons I don't think the Aussie team are not a champion team even though they are probably the most successful in test cricket history. A champion team should be able cope with being put under the pump like they were in Mohali. Although it must be said, half the team is new.
Can't wait for the next test, should be a cracker (y)

cricket is a game of many quirks.
commenting on the North American sport bit: Apparently Canada vs USA was the first international cricket game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v_Canada_(1844)) ever.
sazi - watch international cricket first if you can. Try and find some random Twenty20 matches first. That is like a newbie cricket, then some 1 day internationals and then by summer 2009 you'll be ready to watch Australia get beaten in the Ashes by England (which doesn't often happen). Which is Test Cricket and one game can last 5 days. But there is also 5 games so it becomes a summer bigger than the world cup and Olympics imho

I saw Mighty Boosh live the other week - they was great. Not as good as their previous live show but still great. Also, I was thinking of that scene when I posted it. But I do like cricket so had to finish off the lyrics... Was it 10cc who did it?
Checked - it was 10cc

Cricket is a sport I love to hate.
I grew up playing it in the backyard. It was a lot funner back then, although I guess scribbling randomly on paper and covering myself in mud was also a lot funner back then.
I was on my school team from 1997-2000. We were so bad, never won a game. My high score for my entire playing career was 13. Not out. And I opened. I once got a wicket, although it was more down to the fact that someone else caught it, rather than my lazy ball bouncing three times down the pitch and getting hammered down the field.
Getting padded up to go out to bat was one of the scariest things of my entire life. You sat there dreading it for hours, then when it was finally your turn to get in you had to wander out into the middle of the field with fifty pairs of eyes watching you. You get to the stumps, you stick your bat out for the umpire to tell you if it's in the middle (I don't know why, but everyone else was doing it) and then you stick your arse out in a ridiculous stance while trying not to wet your box at the thought of someone hurling a really quite hard ball at you. The bowler bowls it. You get out first ball and the other team laughs at your incompitence (as usual). Then it's just another long, embarassing walk back to dad's car for a cry.
I haven't played it since.
As far as watching it goes, I used to go for the West Indies, but now I couldn't give a crap. I sort of go for anyone that's playing against Australia, unless Australia are playing England, but only half heartedly.
I once saw David Boon. I'm pretty sure.

heh
australia will still make mince meat of the nz team in the upcoming series
all i can hope for is that shane watson gets pummelled with short balls
cannot stand that guy
hehe, I was gonna bump this thread yesterday. 2 nil :p
I'm guessing it'd be hard for Australia to lose against NZ. I mean for england it wouldn't be hard to lose but for Oz it should.

YES!
aussie 7 down for about 150, against nz
this is awesome
cricinfo is my friend
I've gotta laugh at England to. We've been properly taught a lesson in which we learn nothing this past week. I'm so glad I haven't been near a TV to catch a glimpse of it
214 all out for Oz was it?
Tee hee..
