i keep trying to read stuff about the show and there are way too many threads out already... if anyone has any info, questions or general happiness posts, lets use this thread.
ok important question :P
since there are like 5 artists playing, do you think i would be "that guy" if i wore a beasties shirt, or would it be me proclaiming who i'm ultimately there to see?
**i know this isn't really an important question.

The only way you can get out of being "that guy" if you wear a Grand Royal shirt circa mid 90's.
If you wear a Beastie's Tee from '98 and up... you are "that guy".
Dress like you would normally dress. Who do you have to impress?

Any word on what type of shows these will be?
Is it just gonna be the 3 boys and Mike?
Or will there be a full stage set up with instruments and what not?
Anyone in the know, know for sure?

I haven't heard anything about what Fredo and Money Mark are up to, but I have to believe that Beasties going to break out the instruments and close the show with Sabotage. Adrock needs a few more chances to dedicate the song to Bush and his 8 year reign. I certainly hope that it's mostly hip hop songs though.
Different cities have different artists. They're not listing five artists here.
Edit: oh damn. The venue's website now says Ben Harper, Tenacious D, Beastie Boys "and others." Hopefully just someone who is going to speak for a few minutes and not another musical act. :(

I recently happened upon an article (http://charlotte.creativeloafing.com/gyrobase/beastie_boys_heading_to_amos_southend/Content?oid=383263) that says this:
While the idea behind the tour is a political one, Horovitz doesn't want the mood to be too heavy during the show. He says Beastie Boys will stick with a hip-hop set since other groups are playing at each show, eliminating the need for instruments. "I'm already bummed out, so I don't want to play [political songs] and get more bummed out," Horovitz says. "We want it to be fun. This is our hour to have fun, so we're not going to give speeches about numbers and health care." He jokingly adds that "Shake Your Rump" is "a hot-button issue for McCain."

They will play close to double that, I'm sure. Anytime I've seen them at a multi-band gig, they've got around 12-15 pumped out. The tracks are really short in general.

She and Santogold introduced the Beastie Boys (as the Beasties had done for both of them earlier) and the loose, spontaneous feel of the night continued. DJ Mix Master Mike gave the Beasties a long intro spinning through spurts of records to get the crowd hyped. Dressed just as they were when fans saw them in the parking lot earlier in the day – Mike Diamond (Mike D.) in a scholarly sweater and tie, Yauch in a hoodie, and Adam Horowitz in a plaid shirt, jeans, and ball cap – the Beasties began their set with “Super Disco Breakin'” (from 1998's “Hello Nasty”).
Throughout an hour-long set they fired off “Ch-Check It Out,” “Body Moving,” “Three MC's and One DJ,” “Root Down,” and “Right Right Now Now.” But it was “Sure Shot” (from 1994's “Ill Communication”) that got the crowd jumping and joining in on the lyrics. “Pass the Mic” saw the ever-so-cool Yauch, who was often less animated than the boyish Horowitz or the boisterous Diamond, moving more about the stage.
The three-song finale of “No Sleep Till Brooklyn,” “So What'Cha Want” and “Intergalactic” found fans dancing so hard that the floor of Amos' balcony shook. The Beasties left the audience chanting their name, but didn't satisfy them with an encore after a 15-song set that amply covered their career. Most of the crowd remained until the house lights flooded the room.
So 15 songs.... 10 of them being those.... i wonder what the other 5 were.... hopefully someone on the boards will help us.

It sounds like the Carolinians got their moneys worth last night. The show in Richmond tonight is the largest bill of the series so I worry that the Beasties set list will dwindle. I hope the show just goes a bit longer. Tonight it is Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Santogold, Jack Johnson and the Beasties.

It's weird, I almost hope those weird techno beats MMM dropped at the start are new Beastie stuff. Plus, the more I watch footage from this show, the more I'm convinced I'd rather see them put 110% into songs they're into, than hope for them to half-ass a bunch of Paul's Boutique shit. It's time to let PB in a show setting die; that Disco Breakin performance was off the curtain-string.

also got pics and a vid of ch-check it out. in my opinion... Do It was the best performance of the night. i was getting the fuck down to that!
It was a very good show. Jack Johnson, Sheryl Crow and Norah Jones all had some highlights during their sets. I missed Santogold due to Cuervo shots and Harp beer. I was joking with my friend that Jack Johnson probably shows up at beach fires and pulls out his guitar and gets laid after he strums his first chord. The gals in front of me were loving the Hawaiian. I actually like Jack and try not to question it. I also really liked Sheryl Crow's version of Gimme Shelter. Norah singing Cash was nice.
The Beasties were clowning around like AceFace pointed out. They were on their game and Mike D was especially natty in his blue sweater vest. Adrock and Yauch were also in a playful mood. They did the old school weave and rocked it.
AceFace, it was nice meeting you even though it was brief. You are a wisp in the wind. I can't wait to see the photos and the video.
I enjoyed it all but I liked Right Now (appropriate for the show), No Sleep, Pass the Mic and Watcha Want. It was all good though.

Yeah, the Richmond show was funny as hell. Santogold was really really fresh. I wish it was just her and the Beasties. Nora Jones, Jack Johnson, and Sheryl Crow are not my thing. In fact, I had to leave once Jack Johnson started and we just kicked it out in the hall until the Beasties came on. I don't know, maybe I would have been more into those acts if they weren't paired with the Beasties. It was sort of a clash, like watching Tori Amos open up for Megadeath or something.
The Beasties show was the funniest I've ever seem them. I was laughing my ass off the whole time. I'm glad they finally ditched the encore too and made fun of how stupid it is to act like the show is over when everybody damn well knows they're coming right back. Haha.

wisp in the wind....I always thought it meant a nice feeling the wind gives with a quick gust or a sound. Something like a brief freshness in the air.
At least that is what I meant. Our meeting was short but nice is all I was conveying. Did you really eat a baby before the show?

Not necessarily hatin'- I just find this really annoying, can't really say why, I just know I would be disappointed if I went to a show and lame ass Ben Stiller was standing in for Adrock- even its just for a few minutes thats a significant Adrock gap and I just won't stand for it! All I was saying

Thanks....wish I had more space on my camera.....so many high points.
The "start & stop" at the beginning....not sure.....it felt like they just gave a "psych" to the crowd....I think the were just playin'...Kinda like asking "Are you ready for this or not Dayton".
Threw some shots up on FLICKR too:

[QUOTE=ike67;1628478]Got to the show last night in Dayton...down in the 3rd row.
Crazy small venue & smaller turnout...but MMM & the Boys turned it out.
I have relatives in Ohio, and know that madd factories have close and many job left the state to go overseas. Ohio has some of the highest unemployment and highest teen peggers.... But are you guys really that broke that you can't sell out a $35 Beastie Boys and friends concert?

To anybody who went to the previous shows, what was the starting time of the shows and about what time did the Beastie Boys hit the stage? I'm not much of Ben Harper, CSN, or Tenacious D fan, so I want to come close to when its time for them to come on.

We had one less act (no CSN or whichever two of them are playing). Tickets said 7 p.m. Tenacious D came on around that time, then Ben Harper. Beasties were on right around 9 p.m. It's the earliest I ever remember them starting. They were done shortly before 10 p.m., so it was also the earliest they've ever ended.
Tenacious D was better than I expected. They were really fun. I'm glad I didn't show up late and miss them. I rarely like Jack Black but I loved him tonight. Ben Harper is very talented, even though it wasn't a good venue for his kind of music.
Beasties put on a solid set. It was a lot of fun. I think it was the same setlist as the last show mentioned in this thread, except we had Time for Livin in between Intergalactic and Gratitude. They screwed up lyrics and didn't sing others throughout the show. I don't know if anyone else noticed. I had a great time even though it was just hits and nothing special in the setlist. The show was way too short. I hope they come back because the audience here was clearly having a terrific time. What a treat! It was just enough of a taste to remind me why I love this fucking band. :o

So are you telling me that David Crosby & Graham Nash were the headliners? That's awesome.
The Beasties giving rock royalty their just respect.
When was the last time the Beasties weren't the closing act of a multi-act show?

Beasties were the closing act in St. Paul. Our bill had only three acts. No CSN. I think we had the best bill of the tour.
The Beasties came out at the beginning and introduced Tenacious D. Having the Beasties come onstage at 7 p.m. got the people who were milling around in the halls to come inside and watch the acts. I thought the audience was attentive to all three acts, which is sort of rare.

Not to sidetrack this thread...but here's some beastie-geek trivia on the subject.
I know the Smashing Pumkins headlined Lollapalooza in 1994. And at the Voodoo (Pageant) show in 2004 Green Day was billed as the closer (they had just released whatever album and were very hot) but they said the Beasties should close it out and stepped aside for the Beasties.
Thanks for the review, Doc! Did Ben Stiller jump in during Root Down?

No one but Beasties and MMM on stage during the Beasties' set. I was trying to remember when was the last time I saw Beasties play instruments without Money Mark, etc. In the past 4-5 years, I saw them do sets with no instruments and I saw some very small shows with all the extra guys, but last night was different.
You know what's funny? I was just as happy to see MMM as to see the Beasties. I was excited just to see his "MMM" stand on stage. I liked the new intro.

Come on, now. Why would you follow the motherfucking Beastie Boys w/ an old fogey acoustic set?:D
There was a quote some years back by Bono who said two bands you NEVER WANT to follow. One was the bboys. Not sure on the other...

I know the Smashing Pumkins headlined Lollapalooza in 1994.
Yeah, that was the last time I can remember, but I didn't memorize all the people they played with on the european festival tour they did in '06.
I saw them on that Lollapaloza tour.
Courtney Hole came on stage with Corgan during the Pumpkins set in Philly and made a complete ass out of herself, waving her snatch in this guys' face and then berating him for looking up her skirt.
She then crowd surfed and berated the crowd for groping her.
And it was her fist time "performing" after she had Kurt killed.
She singlehandedly ruined the Pumpkins set, and I was pretty pissed about it at the time.
Fuckin weirdo.

Scust.
Because David Crosby and Graham Nash are living legends and the Beasties seem like the type of people who give respect and gratitude to such legends.
