just found out matt may be losing his job. he's def the bread winner. he makes more in this city than most in his job level, so i don't see him getting a job paying what he makes. i'm so nervous.

we find out tomorrow if he's gone. they're requiring all fired employees to work until Feb before they can get their severance. i think that's pretty shitty of them.

i don't know what we're gonna do. i'm so scared. :/

Sorry to hear, my lady and I live quite within our very little means so I feel for ya.

bush said it is American to work 2 to 3 jobs to make ends meet. Too bad the ass can't do 1 job correctly.

goodluck!

thanks. we almost live within our means. we have a little debt to pay down, minus cars and house. if we could just pay that off, we'd be ok. still unnerving, though.

I know how it feels to get a little bit out of the way. I just paid off my car and my girlfriends is paid off

but collectively we have $30,000 in student loans and kid on the way.....whoa!!!

well, if it happens, i guess the good thing about working until february would be that you'd have some time to find a new job, right?

there are a lot going at our place and its a very ugly atmosphere, each time a dept has people cut, everyone else starts shitting it. I hope i will be alright especially now i have two kids to feed.

Aceface- hope everything goes ok.

they should do , at my place if you get made redundant they give you 30 days to work and you are allowed as much time off to look for work as you want

Atleast you have each other.

I keep putting off getting into a mortgage because I only have myself to depend on to pay it off presently.

its fucking scary on your own.

Yikes, that sucks. I already knew a few people before this major stuff happened that got laid off and it's tough stuff looking for a job. I don't make much money, but I know I'll always have a job where I am now. even if my hours get cut or something. I need to save some money though, in case shit goes really bad.

good luck!

that blows, i'm sorry for you. i think it is super shitty of them to to make their employees work until february, stopping people who may see a great job and want to go for it but have to wait in order to get their severance. really bloody cheeky. i'd be pissed off with that too.

i am very pleased i have just gone into a permanent job (my last job was fixed term and just kept on getting renewed). i count my lucky beans.

like airesse i am scared about buying a flat on my own right now. i don't have enough for a deposit yet, but i am very keen on getting my property shit on. i know it'll be a shitty wee dive with my one mediocre salary but hey. i don't care. my mum's partner keeps on crapping on about it being a BUYERS' MARKET right now and i guess he is right, but it's a big commitment to take on.

at least he isn't on his own and you can tighten your belt to get through things until he finds another job - and he will. i hope so, because america's social security is a bit poor. so bbc news tells me. hrm.

It’s times like this I really appreciate the stability the military offers…sadly I called my brother in law the other day to check on my investments and I think I’ve lost about 12k in the past few months…ugh. Anyway make good use of the next few months to get your shit straight and hopefully find a new job. Worst case scenario you guys are welcome to crash with me for a while
